Hi Romper, Sorry for asking maybe a simple question, but i don't know what mls is. Decked is for the head gasket to sit tight right? Do you also call it shave? Also, Orings are no good? Waste of money? Cheers.

o-rings are good for running high boost levels. usually around $30 a bore

it depends on what you want to do with the motor... im going all out with the block, but knowing me ill wanna go faster and faster, thats why im going to do all i can to the spare block, and leave standard crap on it and buidl up from there

Cool. My engine is being rebuild atm. Going forges and chrome rings (not for big power, but because doesn't cost much more), should be ready in 2 weeks. The mechanic asked if i wna shot peed the rods to smooth it out therefore strengthening it. Is that required? Thats only for extreme power right? I doubt i will run past 10psi so maybe i wont do it. cheers.

well if your gonig to use forged pistons you might as well do the rods. but if your only going to be running 10psi i would nt even bother with the forged pistons. be sure you know exactly what you want to achive out of your car in the future do it right the first time and you will be set.. i found out the hard way. forged pistons cost double what std or Hypertek cost. how much did he say he got you forgies for? your looking at around 1000 im sure you can get STD one's for 400 give or take are you useing aftermarket ECU or STD ?

I asked about the rods today, suggested that he shot peed it but his other mechanic reckons waste of time unless i wanted huge power... i have no idea what to do. If it only cost a few hundred then i midas well (blew my small budget already!). If forges cost that much, then he must be talking **** because he's charging me $1200 to do full rebuild, +$250 for strong pistons/rings (I did hear him say forges, but it must be something else then), + $300 to fully reco my heads (sounds too much). All up about $1750 + labour cost for my mate to put everything back in. So for 10psi, do you suggest that i get all stock components? Prior to blowing my engine, i installed a t04 on a totally stock rb30. It went great until i ran a wrx (bet it!), i assumed that it was due to the small injectors and n/a ecu. So i got a set of VLT injectors and VLT ecu. I would be totally shattered if the engine breaks again.

$1200 for a FULL rebuild does not include forged pistons mate. No chance in the world. The pistons alone are $1200 before you even start, purchase rings, rod bolts, machining etc etc. Your better off just going a standard rebuild, shot peened rods again, not worth if for what you want, waste of money!
