Theyre illegal for a reason. Just because you havnt had the misfortune of crashing due to cut springs doesnt mean theyre safe. In the front of a car they are identical to normal springs, but the rears have a circled bottom which sit into place. Front struts arent just going to fall out but the rears can. Also the weight of the rear of the car is on one corner of the spring. Alot of pressure on a tiny edge. Put simply, if they were safe they would be legal... thats pretty much it.

Lol. Wilko, the only time the REAR springs can come out is if the car gets airborne and the trailing arms fall away from the body and the springs are no longer under load, I cant see how going round a corner fast will have any impact? TW089 once you drop the car onto the spring it compresses and the weight of the car is not just on one corner, its impossible. Has anyone ever heard of anyone having an accident because of chopped springs???? Only problem I ever had was turning into a sharp drivewayin my VK, it lifted one wheel up and the spring popped out..... End of the day dont be an idiot and chop em in half, taking the guard down to the tyre is low enough. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Wyndup - the bottom of the spring doesnt compress flat once weight is applied. Youd have to have a tonne directly on the one spring for that! Anway I think this thread and all the others before it have been done and dusted.

Fellas harden the fuc.k up! there is nothing wrong with chopped springs. Do u think each spring is individually moulded? No, its actually a long spring that is cut into smaller lengths. if the dorks at pedders and kings made springs low enough we wouldnt be chopping them. in my opinion a car isnt lowered unless the 19's are almost inside the wheelarch Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

As with the exact same thread in the other section you made (word for word). This questions is stupid. This Thread is locked. If you persist in creating duplicate threads (particularly ones like this), you will find yourself on a nice holiday from the site. Thanks for coming. Please come again soon. --Mark InsaneVL
