well it looks like your tank doesn't have a return line, check the pics of mine its the barb on the left of the tank, but your gunna need one.
i dont know the fuel setup of the VN/VP but thats gotta be your return line on the sender unit, like a said is there a spare pipe within the tank thats joined to the little plastic tub?

14-08-07, 20:56 GMT+10#23 yeah, see the return line connects to the little plastic tub in the tank, where the pump sits.
so the extra line on the sender has to be for that which is the bottom one by the looks of it.

16-08-07, 18:42 GMT+10#26 yeh those two metal ends coming out of the sender unit thingo
1 is fuel feed from intank pump to main pump, the other is fuel return from surge or rail, however u have urs setup. just dont get them around the wrong way.. :P a piece of tape on the return end, so u know which one is which once u've installed the sender unit part back into the tank before u put it in. might be worth goin down to holden and gettin a new cork gasket for that aswell. doesnt look like u have one in the pic. U will need one.

17-08-07, 15:07 GMT+10#27 wen to see my cousin before (my mechanic) to show him the tank,,
he said its of a vp/vr this tank,, (guy i bought it off said it was off a vnss) thats why it doesnt have the return line nest to where the sender goes into the tank... and the sender 1 of the outlets has to get blocked off...
i wanted to do it this weekend now i have to wait and get aoutlet line soldered on and 1 of the lines on the sender soldered closed..

31-08-07, 14:56 GMT+10#30 do any of you actually have the dash guage working properly in your cars or do you have aftermarket gauges to control them? Ive contemplated getting a VN SS tank and putting it in because I do a lot of long distance driving and it would be quite handy not to have to stop on the 700k trips.

31-08-07, 15:43 GMT+10#31 My 83L VP SS tank is identical to a standard 63L VL tank in regards to the breather nipples and six bolt pattern for the sender. Fits in no problems, and the sender works fine. But you do have to adapt a VL neck to fit with a bit of hose to brige the gap.
I'd say the sender will work fairly consistently between most of the various tank sizes out there; its only a float. I'll let you guys know once I put it in...

01-09-07, 14:36 GMT+10#32 well ive got a longrange 83ltr tank from my VL BT1 and the sender arm is longer when compared to the standard one, ive now put a VN SS tank in but i used the old sender so it would be accurate.
overall the 83ltr sender has a bigger sweep and i guess would be calibrated for the larger tank, but ill be interested to see if it works fine with the standard sender, keep us informed 5spdvl.
