i have seen old people actually driving skylines, about 50 year old woman with a stock R34 and i see a fair few stock R32's and R33's getting around with older people in them and it doesnt look like a younger persons car.
I like them. Dont see whats wrong with them.. People say their crap becasue theres so many of them that are gay ( wings, stickers etc ) Thats like me saying all VL's are gay because theres alot of crap ones? I'd take a GTR over ANY VL any day. Thats my opinion.
skylines r tuff but dnt get the most common ones around such as the r33 ive i was to get a skyline it would have to be the r32 coz there isnt many around and just leave the bodykit as it is lower put the exhuast n work the engine thats the ways id go if i eva bought 1 but doubt it HOLDEN THE WAY 2 GO!!!!!!!

Then what are you doing here?
Sho off to the Skylines forums.
Nah just kidding, but I think it's a bit stupid even mentioning a VL and GTR in the same sentence. Of course alot of people would take a GTR over a VL, but alot of people would take a GTS over a Pintara, but yeah opinion I guess.

i own a skyline. hahaha its no where near a ricer lol. i just bought simmons fr's for them in 19's. i guess no 1 has seen them on a skkyline before. its how u do them up wat wheels u put on and all these stickers and shyt are wrong.

The only skyline i hate is the R33 its like the commodore of the Holden world, Not many people buy the R32 cause its older, Not many people buy the R34 cause its more expensive..
So everybody jumps onto the R33, and then they always get a white 1 anyway :P
because every skyline owner thinks there king d'ick and can beat any car in there gtst peice of poo with just an exhaust.

Endless tossers in the ricelines line me up on the bike and expect to be able to take me cos of that one seen in the FnF movie where he was sitting side by side with them. HELLO bike does 10 second 1/4's out of the box.
Haha if you dont believe the above send "spike" a pm and ask him about the wanker in my street with an orange riceline with a 5" cannon and stickers. Yes tahts the only mods he has done and thinks his the ducks nuts.
amen

Thats a fast ass time for 210rwkw... Love to see the slips for that. You must be able to steer that car.
Im a commodore man even though now i probably have the money to buy something nicer. My family always had aussie muscle cars and Ive just kind of wandered into there footsteps...
I think the whole skyline P plater thing with the bulll**** exhausts and stickers and wings but for all there show couldnt pull the skin off a custard. Im a big fan of keeping a car simple nice rims keep the body straight and the paint mickey mouse and blow all your money on things that matter like suspension brakes and building a good healthy motor.
The most fun i ever had with a skyline was once when i was on my GSXR. We where crusing along the freeway and the car had two guys in the front and two girls in the back. I downshifted the bike and lifted her on on the back wheel keeping pace with the skyline, front wheel ****ed. The women loved it... then just power wheelied away from them.

A 6 speed manual VX-VY SS will probably have about 180rwkw to begin with, and is capable of a mid - high 14 second pass.
An R33 GTS25t will have around 140rwkw and be capable of about a mid 15 in stock form.
Spend a couple of thousand dollars on the GTS25t to achieve enough power for a high 13/ low 14 second pass, but you spend the same ammount of money on the VX-VY SS and it's going to be capable of a low 13/ high 12 second pass.
Now, to get the R33 into the 11 second barrier it is going to cost a fortune (as it would to Turbo or Supercharge an LS1 but this is not required to go fast, so alot of people opt to stay N/A). Afterall, the fastest RB25 powered R33 only run's like mid 10's, this is the same as the fastest NA LS1 powered cars.
To achieve 11's in an LS1 powered SS/ Clubsport/ Whatever, only requires a VERY basic setup. The main thing is using all the right parts in conjunction with each other. Will cost you around $5000. You will definetely require slicks aswell I should add, otherwise it will just be wheel spinning 3/4 track.
The only Skyline I would honestly own would be an R32 GTR. It would have to be extremely tidy but.
Jason.
It all depends on what you're into.
Some people only like imports
Some people only like muscle cars and yank tanks
Some people only like Euros
Some people only like local
Some people only like cars with glitter paint, big poofy chrome dish wheels, and a white leather interior
Some people only like little cars
Some people only like large cars
Some people only like cars with small displacemnt and/or forced induction
Some people only like cars with large cubes, and loud roars
And some people dont give a damn about any car, unless its a Ferrari or something
So obviously their are gonna be people out there who dont like Skylines, lol
i love v8s but i do like the sound of a turbo but my point is y do ppl have to go out and by a skyline when there turbos in aus that have been proven to put out good numbers ie panic, xcop, xchaser, just to name a couple
my 2 cents

I can still fit an RB30 into an R33 for more power potential (and more bottom end torque) ,it's better than spending money on an RB25 - RB26 bottom end as an RB30 was a garden variety engine over here whereas you are paying like $600 for a good second hand RB26 crankshaft whereas I can get an RB30 engine for bugger all (I've got a spare bottom end)
I know the bottom line is it's what you like and now I've got an overall summary of why "some" people don't like them , it ranges from the fact a person isn't buying Australian despite the car being second hand ,to the stereotype of it being a "rice car" ,giving Skyline drivers a bad name of "wanker" , also some people still hate Jap cars.
What I've found with VL's is the motors keep on going but the rest of the car falls apart around it, they've got a real good motor in them but I think the motor is better engineered than the rest of the car , but the motor was way ahead of its time , it was actually the VN Commodore which was supposed to receive that engine , it's a pity it didn't.
