so what i'm wanting to know is.. how do manual and a full auto go side by side rolling race rather than off the line (ovbiuosly different cars with different power levels don't count) but my mate and i, have excatly the same mods done he is manual and i'm a stock auto for the moment as the motor hasn't gone back into the car. but when it does i'm expect it not to last very long... so i'm trying to decide what will be quicker in a rolling race.. also about 300-350rwhp we've got roughly cheers

I want to put one of these full manual boxes in my wagon. But the power levels will be relatively stock for a while. Im building the car from the diff to the engine. Obviously the box will take the power but will it affect shift quality or anything else. Its gonna be 39s in the diff with a gun auto, 3000k stally behind a pretty basic turbo motor. Is this a good idea. Id rather put the good stuff behind the motor first so Im not breaking sht when I up the power. Also If the cops look under the hood itll look stock but the car should be still punchy with the driveline. A good idea?? AJ

Itll be on boost right away, and itll hold boost through all of the gears where the manual will lag before boost then hold boost until the gear change where it will drop off and have to build up again. Autos are the shizzle.

There is nothing wrong with a MX7, a good mate of mine has 420rwkw in his vl with an MX7 and he hasnt had a problem with it at all. At the end of the day its how you drive it. If you smash it, it will break

Oh, and no more burnt out clutchs either 6BOOST Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I thought manufacturers rated gearbox's, etc using torque figures...?

Factory manufacturers might, where their boxes go behind a multitude of engines, but when your talking a spefici box like this designed for an RB30, there would be little torque variation between setups making the same RWKW. 6BOOST

i'm currently making the same decision. but i love manuals. and i can keep my car in boost through gear changes, but you do lose everything while changing gears. i'm using an mf5 with a standard clutch. clutch is just staring to slip when changing under full boost. and that was with the old setup. so everyone who's changed from manual to a keas manualised auto on here isn't looking back to manuals? sorry if i'm invading the topic. cheers.

Ahhh... Didn't realise this was a RB30 only box. I imagined it being used behind a variety of RB motors... In the 'Skylines Australia RB30 DOHC Guide' I read tje following comment: 'The R32 RB20DET gearbox doesn"t like the 3ltr torque, I stripped third gear with only ~180rwkw. To put things in perspective, the rb30det making ~180rwkw was making the same amount of torque as an rb25det making 300rwkw. No wonder the rb20det box strips gears with such low power levels. Horsepower = torque x rpm / 5252." I've long been a fan of auto boxes for more than drag racing and have fitted manual pedal boxes into auto vehicles in the past. I put a tab from the clutch pedal across onto the top of the brake pedal. When the clutch pedal is depressed it operates the brake pedal as well. The brake pedal is untouched so operates as designed and is road legal. I can left foot brake(clutch pedal) into a corner, use the throtle diligently and have the turbo spooled and full power available right through the corner. Bit of a learning curve but lots of fun and surprisingly quick...

Apart from the fact everytime you touch the clutch pedal your braking??? Am I the only one that thinks this is a bad idea?? What about when your tryin to drive normally??

in an auto... instead of having your feet so close i assume he means?

Yeah, thats right I think E-Z....still, why not just remove and fit the correct pedal box?....Having said that...my VL has a manual brake pedal, no clutch pedal and its auto...manual brake pedal is further to the right...

PM sent to you Sedatk. I had a question from a member regarding transmissions, and I sent a PM on my experiences with my KEAS. Keas auto gearbox all the way.

Thats the whole idea, the clutch pedal is now a brake pedal and is in a nice comfortable position to use, not offset to the right. To drive it normally you just use the brake pedal as you always have. The tab on the clutch pedal sits on top of the brake pedal, so the clutch pedal does not move when you brake. In an emergency I still instinctively head for the brake pedal with my right foot anyway so no change there... Like I said, its a bit of a learning curve to get used to driving 'go-kart' style but heaps of fun...

hrmm.. i dunno bout the pedal setup.. but i only left foot brake also, always have and prob always will just feels alot better, and half the time, in the past anyhow. i've neeed to use the brakes alot at the same time to get boost, and wash speed when sliding corners. lol.. so always good to know u can use both feet.. i could probably do with my brake pedal a little more to the left, but im too lazy to get that kinda **** fixed up..and i just live with it.. :P
