Atleast the RB30E was 20 years ahead of it's time, compared to every other engine Holden had used before. Although most VN owners only seem to care about their 15 second V6s, beating cars with smaller, less powerful engines. *shrugs* It's almost as if they're too scared to race anything other then a N/A Auto VL Executive or Toyota Yaris. look wot uve started lol. the commodore v6 isn't that bad, not any worse than the RB30 anyway. RB30 technology has been around since the 70s dude. i kno rb30s r the best cos were on a VL forum, but there r better engines out there. way better engines

Despite whats actually 'better', the Barra inline 6 does the job perfectly for the Falcon. I wish that America would stop production of their V6s, and start using Australians inline sixes. Future Mustang and Crown Victoria replacements will be on the next gen Falcon platform too, so all would have worked out well. We could have seen a Mustang F6 Typhoon, haha, and damn that would have been awesome. and just to let people know, Ford HAS confirmed that this V6 rumor is in fact true All because Ford doesnt have the funds to upgrade the Barra to work in accordance to new emission laws. Who is the in charge of emission laws in Australia anyway? Whoever they are, I dont really like them, ....because they've just successfully laid off 600 Australian workers and given the work to America, deleted an iconic Australian engine, rendered an Australian engine factory as either useless or up for a total re-haul, and ruined a lot of street cred for an Australian car. So whats really better for Australia? ever so slightly less emissions for one of the least populated chunks of land in the world, or Aussie jobs/culture/industry? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

They are awesome for their age though. Just get sick, and tired of people with V6 Commodores bragging about how they can beat a N/A VL. It's not that hard. N/A VLs are slow, and it doesn't prove SFA!!! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

My understanding is that this year is the last year for XR6 Turbo's anyway, as they are being replaced by the "Orion". The closure of the Geelong engine plant in 2010 had nothing to do with it. I would've though the BA/BF range of XR6 Turbo's were a killer seller for Ford, but I guess some "suit" in the boardroom know's better...

well VL turbos were only around from 86-88 so it looks as though XR6 turbos will be gone soon also... 2002-???? when will production cease? if it aint broke, dont fix it... i thought it would have been a better way to compete with Holden as having an alternative patterned six? ah well, looks like the XR6T will be the next cult car if they arent already

All my Ford fanboy mates are saying the XR6T will be around until the end of the Orion. Orion is mean to disappear at about 2010/2011 to make way for the new global platform that Ford Australia is developing for the Falcon/Fairlane/Mustang/Crown Victoria replacment/Territory.
