Get some acetic acid/vinegar and soak a cotton wool ball with it and strap it/rubber band it to the place where the stud goes into the aluminium, keep it wet with vinegar for about 2 to 4 hours. Then use vise grips to unscrew it. Failed

Failed In what respect, still jammed ? if so then it needs stronger acetic, your local gourmet vinegar may not be that stronge, get some higher strength acetic acid from chemist If it is in really tight then it will come out by use of the right tool but, using the acetic first will help to release some of the oxide so it wont take all the threads with it, this is assuming there isnt a huge buildup of oil and grease around the threads from previous attempts to lubricate it ... If not jammed, then it came out but if it stripped some thread then it was in their too long and/or re para above the acid wasnt strong enough, Devil is in the detail mate, A simple "failed" doesnt say anything much...? Not all situations are identical, Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
