I am running a rebuilt MX7 with an Exedy heavy duty clutch. Will this hold up to the task or will I need to slot in a Keas box or even upgrade my clutch? What does 350hp transfer into rwKw? I'm not too concerned about time slips or power output but as I have said I want a very streetable and responsive VLCT wagon. Why is everyone telling me to get a GT35/40? From the graphs I have looked at on the Garrett website the GT30 looks like a better choice for a streeter.

i strongly suggest that if u want to keep a cogger , then sell urs now and buy a 33 5spd , i have driven grants (tempest) car with both the old mx7 and the 33 box , and i am not a fan of manuals , but the 33 is wiked. and he has 380rwhp pump fuel 19psi gt30 .82 350hp is like 270rwkw i think and everyone tells u to get a 35 cos they wanna make sik horsepower and be fully sik. you know.... sik im bored hehe Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

You have a small turbocharger.

350 x 0.746 = 261kw

yeah well If I pull this box out I will go the Auto route. I'll see how it drives with the MX7 and make a decision then. I was aiming for the 250rwKw so that sounds just about right. So If I do end up with a GT 35/40 I will end up looking like this?: Fully sick Quote: Originally Posted by RB30-POWER 350 x 0.746 = 261kw That's the equation I was looking for! mx7 strength wise will be fine but the 33 definately is more refined. A rebuilt mx7 will put up with far more than what a GT30 powered motor can deal out. What clutch is it specifically? Once you up the power twin plates start looking more attractive, expensive though, expect to pay 1500-2500 for a good one, the other option is brass button which is far cheaper (500-900) but some people can't stand driving with them, personally i love it. Do not put the GT30 on if you are going to convert to auto later, the turbo will simply not make the most of a good auto setup imo

Player Jack = Much different than member Jack The Clutch I bought is from the Sponsor on here: http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=82362 VL Turbo heavy duty clutch I have driven a Brass button clutch and it felt very wierd, not sure how I would go driving that all the time. R33 Boxes seem to have shot up in price lately. I am seeing them for $2500+ and not that often either

mx7 should be fine if its not noisy to start with, all comes down to how hard you treat it, i gave mine heaps for a year and it never gave me grief. just curious Yeti how much did the clutch set you back?

Mr charles, mx7 will handle the pace if its in good condition and you use redline light shock proof oil in it, turbo size im not expert in 35/40 may be a tad large for pure street car though, mayve the size down I have a bit of lag with a .86 rear, not too bad could be better though. Low mount and standard inlet manifold gets people talking, ie. theres no way hes making that much power. But the high mount is all show, purley personal decision and you shouldnt be influenced by any one. I have and AVO lowmount manifold, looks stock flows 40% better, internal gate the standard look, 320 rwkw. Its all cosmetic, standard manifolds polished this chrome that, its all personal taste. P.S looking to sell my 550cc injectors in a few weeks if your interested, suit standard rail. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Just so everyone knows, Jason was drunk as a skunk when he wrote this post hahahaha I might go for the show option, not sure yet. Shoot me a PM with how much you would want for the injectors Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

thats cheap for the clutch, very nice how much did you end up spending rebuilding the box? anything broken or just freshening it up. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Well it's through the site sponsor. Spent $1200 getting the box rebuilt, nothing in it was broken, but because I had it out of the car for the new clutch I figured I may aswell spend the money then while it was out Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I know yours did incredibly well, i'm not doubting the GT30 (if i was, then i myself wouldnt be using one haha), but look at you, already upgrading to a bigger turbo.. assuming because you want to go faster.. what did you upgrade to? What i am saying is a well set up auto can easily make the lag of a 3540 .82 (or even 1.06 depending who you talk to) very streetable and hardly noticable, so if that is possible then running a genuinely responsive smaller gt30 isn't really nessecary for total streetability as it would be in a manual, that's all! I've heard the R33 isn't all that much stronger than an mx7 anyway? Not tryin to shut you down but have you driven a car equipped with either a 30 or a 35? Genuine question.

yes, and trust me i've spent the last 12 months furiously investigating the decision to make between 3040 and 3540, that's why i speak with a little confidence on the subject.

ok sober now yeti, make an offer on injectors mate if your keen, I want to keep the fuel rail if you dont need it though, also link computers are good aswell thats what im running, JPC want me to put an autronic in but im going to stick with the link and see how its goes havent had a problem with it and its just a simple plug in too. Dont forget when you have a show engine bay the cops see every thing you have in there.
