im going to be going with microtech on a hardcore 30, simply because i dont feel anyone in perth is capable of tuning anything else adequately. UD LOSE went deep into the 10s with a hks motor and 51r spl and a MICROTECH, if it can handle street driven 700rwhp its good enough for me. I had one on my rotor and never had a problem... obviously if my pockets where infinately deep id have the latest and greatest motec, but in my opinion, i dont care if u have a microtech or a motec, the computers only as good as the tune its carrying!

above info is right on the money depending where u live, and who your preference tuner is, u should really be buying the tuner they recommend and tune ( ask questions etc) from what i've learnt decide on the shop that gives u confidence and use the ecu they recommend, no point getting a motec when they local people in the area have limited or no experience with them! while he's been tuning microtech for 10 years anyways thread has run it's course everyone's put the 2 bob in! closed Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Nothing wrong with microtech Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

the way i see it, the extra 3grand or so for the top of the line motec is not warranted over a microtech put the extra $$ u have saved into other parts lik a cdi ect i paid about 1K for my ltx12s then paid about $500 or so for my AEM 8channel cdi ill stick with a computer that my tuner is the best at which is a microtech yes, if money was no object then id go a top of the line motec but if money was no object, i would prob not hav a vl lol also, how many of the new microtechs hav you heard of losing there tunes? how many microtechs period have you heard of losing there tunes and how do you know that it was the microtechs fault?

How many RPM points dont mean sh1t. A car can be set up with rpm points every 1000 rpm and only have more rpm points around idle. It is the ecu's ablity to interpulate between load points that is important. Microtech does the job. I recently tuned a VL with indy blues and a Microtech. I thought there would be no way! But it worked. Pros and cons. Motec con = price pro = everything else about the ecu. ie injector comp table, map comp table, config to suit any vehicle via laptop, quality of wiring and connectors, processing speed (this plays a big part with ignition timing be accurate. ablity to interpulate between load sites user definable load sites. ie, load point every 250, 500, 1000 rpm etc. save file to laptop ECU for life Microtech, Pro= Price con= has to be sent back to Microtech to be reconfigured outputs can not really be configured outputs can not be configured to do anything. cant save file to laptop only dongle, limit of 4 ignition map only really 2D rpm one screen, vac-boost another screen even when in matrix mode. cant adjust for different injectors, no battery comp table MICROTECH DOES THE JOB AND IS GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY. THE DIFFERENCE IN FUEL DELIVERY IS PROCISSION DELIVERY Vs A BUCKET ON A STRING. Each to his own.

Forget about comparing a microtech to a motec or autronic, there is no point. It's better comparing computers that are closer in price, such as a haltech and microwreck. Looking at the specs of a haltech, id rather spend the extra couple of hundred dollars and buy that anyday.

Haltech is a good ECU, dual maps, the ablilty to control the factory vl idle control soleniod. It works great. Again, these ecu's can be configured without returning it to the manufacture.

EXACTLY!, get any tuner here and ask them this question and they will tell you the same. And for circuit work, well if you own a v8 super car you might need a motec but....the lap record for IPRA cars at sandown was set by a car with a microtech, also the biggest race meet at phillip island a couple of weeks ago for IPRA was again won with a car with a microtech, and it also has the lap record at mallala, beating a autronic equipped car. I'm sure the datalogging capabilities of the motec/autronic would be damn handy though. cheers darren

there is a very informative thread. Danny always gives excellent advice and just shows Microtech can run the numbers with no problems lets keep it going Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

i used to run an ltx12s i believe was a **** computer now i have upgraded to an autronic sm4 with the microtech idle was very poor used to idlle too loud the sm4 made the car sound stock again and for the street thats a good thing secondly the features and sm4 has in compared with a mircotech believe me its worth every extra dollar buying the better computer the sm4 has a option to attach the knock sensor to the car to adjust timing by itself so the car doesnt sh1t itself where microtech doesnt ...... Also using a 5 wire oxy sensor for the exhaust on the sm4 allows the comptuer to readjust itself if its running rich or poor i believe you get what you pay for in computers and if you want your motor to last pay the extra money and get a better computer as its the heart of the motor

NO did it work fine and they could tune it fine? YES so now tell me y they are a sh!t comp????

Who has their Microtech tuned in Matrix Mode and who has it tuned in Normal Mode?

WOW matrix mode, thats cool does it go all slow motion and stuff?? hehehe neva heard of it

Matrix mode turns the Microtech from: LOAD MAP ms CRUISE MAP vs RPM % of map IDLE MAP vs RPM % of map WOT MAP vs RPM % of map these maps are only for fuel. ignition is simply load vs rpm MATRIX MODE gives fuel only a grid of adjustments every 500 rpm by 2 PSI. (depending on map config when ordered) matrix mode is not normally required unless the vehicle has a extremely big cam with little vac at idle. And still, most tuners dont tune all load sights in matrix mode. A couple of years ago when it first came out it was the bee's knee's for microtech. Matrix is for fuel only.
