But they will take a hell of a pounding, and distort before they fracture. They are designed for SHORT LIFE race applications, and will wear out within a few months in a street engine. Hyper eutectic pistons are forged from exactly the same high silicon hard brittle alloy as stock cast pistons. They can run very tight clearance, seal well, and will last forever unless detonation kills them. They are strong only because they are thick and heavy, detonation will crack them easily. Forging is a manufacturing process not a material. Find out which material they are made from, and follow Arias's recommendation. I think youve just answered my query as to why my engine has always rattled from day 1 & has only gotten worse. The guys @ Rocket Ind went off their catologue & gave me exactly what was listed, which was the correct part, just must ave been the Arias Aluminium unit. They also came with Hastings Rings which were measuring a .005" bigger end gap than Nissan specs, even tho the piston clearance was .004". Is this common with this ring brand??. Im sure this is what has happened to me. 18 months later now & blowby is quite excessive. Im now planning another rebuild cause of this. CP is the next piston i have in mind. Are they a silicon piston?? Otherwise what brand do you recommend for an every day driver. Thanks

Get some wiseco's their the only forged piston manufacturer that make their own forged blanks their quality control is second to none and my engine builder has built 100s of forged engines and customers have never came back to complain about piston slap these were all built with 4thou PB clearance. They have factory skirt coatings nitrided/napier steel rings which other piston manufactures charge extra for, not to mention off set rist pins that come as a bonus.
