Jezz there alot of **** in the early parts of this thread. Ill give my 2 cents. There are actually 3 styles of paint. The third they stoped doing in the late 70's early 80's i think. 1 COB Clear painted over a base colour 2 Solid A solid no metalic or pearl color eg red 3 Monometalic A metalic that dosent have clear painted on top cause the clear is added to the colour The problem with mono metalic is it was harder to paint. Also what people forget is the fundemental point of what a mettalic is. It is bare METAL in the paint. And altho i have never witnessed this myself my Lecturer did. When buffing , if buffed 2much u can expose the metal. And then it rains. And then u have the actual paint rusting. Also it is old school but there are both acrylic and 2pak show cars. Ive heard of show cars where the hard bits like the engine bay has been painted in 2pak yet the outside acrylic. Depends alot on the painter painting as in to which they can work with and make better. Im new school so id only ever do a car in 2pak for show.

You cant write a 4 year apprentiship in a page. If i was to write a tech areticle , and someone followed it. And then something went worng. Theyd think im ****. Cause i told them to do something wrong. And something will go wrong , cause it always does. You get silicone spots , blushing , frying the list goes on. Hence y when i see someone ask a specific question on the forum i answer it. Cause if you ask , "what sand paper do i use to polish 2pak" A simple answer would be 1500. And that would be ur tech article. But then when u did it and u f up. You get angry. The specific answer would be 1500 wet. And keep the hose and water constenly running when u do it. Cause if grit(dirt) gets into the sand paper thats actually coarser than 1500. So when u goto polish it it comes up with all these scratches. Hence preventing u from fin up. And thats the same for the entire painting. Long specific answers to prevent f ups.
