Although I am yet to hear a sony system which has really blown me away (apart from competition cars), I would hardly say they are bad quality. I mean any sub which can survive being in the boot of a VR getting hit by a train must be decent quality. (Mate did it, sub still works).
Its funny how people always try an pay out Adelaide, because the main city is smaller and less populated, but I have been around Australia and I am always happy to be back home.

14-09-06, 10:34 GMT+10#23 Ha! I have all pioneer for starters. I don't live in Sydney you m0r0n look at my location. The reason i don't have a 9 sec car is because i simply don't need one. If i wanted a 9 sec street car i would build a 9 sec street car. Instead i have a nice comfortable 5 spd vp with a killer ice system, nice wheels, vx clubby body kit and custom interior. Seriously though, why on earth would you say that alpine/jbl/pioneer are "cheaper stuff" any way? As for "go back to you N/A and keep buying your Sony" well, all i can really say is that you are an !d!0t and n/a cars are just fine as far as i care, especially when they are as nice as mine PIONEER sound.vision.soul

14-09-06, 14:32 GMT+10#25 MTX make awsome gear. I think that that's spot on what you said about paying as much as you think you need for your system too! That's what it all comes down to in the end.

yeah totally true.
**** im not sayin pioneer isnt good, but its cheap, have a look around mate. 260 for splits. 200 for a deck 200 for a sub. its in the sub-300 buck class. sure some stuff mite be expensive, but it is a cheap brand that every man an his dog runs.
and sony isnt half bad either, but isnt exactly top stuff.

16-09-06, 11:30 GMT+10#28 You are all invited to hear my car with the cheap Sony amps and the cheap Pioneer woofers to settle this once and for all.

20-09-06, 18:12 GMT+10#32 my sound system consists of an Alpine CDA-9811 deck which cost me $479 at the time, then i got two 4" type s speakers in the dash and two 6" type s speakers in the parcel shelf, all with tweeters in the centre of them and that all cost me (including the head unit) $800 including install.
then i got a 15" MTX sub, already set up in a box n evrything from strathfield for $350 and an MTX amp which puts out 150wrms if bridged, so i did that and put it all into the sub, that amp cost me $150 and if i crank the whole system, you end up coming out of my car with your ears ringing, so i think that alpine definately isnt a "cheaper brand".
so before you go saying it is, try it out, coz everyone that knows me thinks my sound system is the best around (which i know its not) and they tell me theyre going to steal it

you would be quite surprised what 150wrms puts out. the sub only takes 250wrms max so yeah, i think it must have sumthn to do with what brand sub you buy, coz my mate had a sony 1000wrms sub and apparently mine ****s on that

21-09-06, 10:48 GMT+10#35 Well i'm a pro at buying MTX gear because mines been stolen a few times, and yes it is upsetting. But i wouldn't go any other brand. Not Ever. The MTX amp i got from strathfield was $450 to run 2 12 inch subs. and it's still not enough power.

yeah well put it this way, if west coast customs on pimp my ride use MTX gear, then thats good enough reason for me to buy it!
but i'd still go for alpine head unit, im lookin at getn the alpine pulse touch dvd screen ay, ad some audio/vis to my car
but to be honest, for a $150 MTX amp pumping 150wrms into a 250wrms max 15" MTX sub, which makes the ground vibrate over 10 metres away, im pretty damn happy! its not like im entering sound system comps so why need enough stuff to make my car implode? haha

14-06-07, 15:55 GMT+10#39 So far ive had a Kicker sound sys, sony and alpine.
By far Kicker is the best, alpine second, and sony was a waste of money.
I wouldnt pay out Adeliade people, there serial killers.

14-06-07, 16:46 GMT+10#40 I have to agree with all those people that said sony, pioneer, alpine etc are cheaper brands, because they are. People that are serious about car audio have brands like DLS, Focal, MB Quart, Rainbow, Rockford Fosgate, DD, the list goes on. Most of which the average joe wouldnt have even heard of, and its only audio specialists that would recommend such brands.
For car audio, caraudioaustralia.com.au is the only site worth looking at. =)
