As you said, costs would be huge, but an HG LS1 would be awesome!

I picked mine up off a forum member for under half what you have been quoted with everything i needed. Check out tradingpost or ebay! Oh and if you still want that tough look of an air filter through the bonnet, the ol injected 5.0 can do that too. Value for money you can't beat it. They are the strongest holden motor from the factory (bottom end etc) and have the heads that everyone uses on their older cars as they flow more... use the whole motor!

yeah thanks guys the ls1 had me keen cause of the alloy block..and my car not having power assisted steering the gaps in the doors im not real happy with, but i think i will leave it as its still a tuff car with out spending 3grand on getting the body straighter and i want to be able to drive it with out worrying about ppl leaning on it etc.. so for now main concern is road worthy.. then motor etc.. thanks again guys

He's talkin about running a N/A motor. I haven't seen a Holden 5L make anywhere near what some carby n/a chevs do!

LOL~! VN Heads are good value for money, but they're not better than some of the US Heads for SBC

IMHO they dont really come into there own untill your starting to build a pretty hot engine. If you want anything under an 11 second engine id say build a chev everyday, for a cruiser with a bit of go 5ltrs are too cheap. With aussie cars its kinda cool to keep it all aussie as well.
