VL's Are Clapped out Pieces of ****... VL Calais Are Nearly as bad the only thing going for them is the sexier look on the Calais...!!! Simple.!! interio's are shocking... Engines could have fixed a few more problems... autos are terible and the Manual's were the only thing going for them really other than they could not hold power or good driving capabilities... the manual box was great because it's not a cable clutch...

yer but how good is it being in a clapped out piece of **** going sideways past a BA XR6 turbo...or going to a show and a vl show car ie platnm, rajab calais etc turns more heads and gets more pics and trophies than a brand new ferrari. some may be clapped out but at the end of the day there are an amazing car.

Restoration is around for a reason... to restore old beauties like the VL and i also disagree... here in sydney VL's are much loved cars... just that alot of ****heads can afford na execs to hoon around in... and i also love the fact that u can still go sidways overtaking a BA XR6T Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

A show VL is more at home, at shows like Megiuars MotoEX and even in the judge's pavillion at Summernats. Quote: Originally Posted by XR THIS VL's Are Clapped out Pieces of ****... i say that for a 20 year old car ( my car turned 20 this month lol ) they still look pretty damn hot when done properly, and if tuned well and looked after, they still go alrite vls have a pretty damn good tolerance to thrashing, its more so not being looked after that seems to be the problem Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Thrash them and rebuild them when they need it. With a bit of money you can make them new again. Mine has 119,000kms on the clock and I have had it for 7 years. I plan to keep it for ever and just do a full rebuild every 10 years or so. They are what you make of them

Every car that's been on the road has been thrased. VL or not.

Mines not clapped out, or a rust bucket. But it certainly is thrashed! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I'd say yes. VL's have been the cult car amongst many teenage drivers for years. Same goes with VN's. You could probably expect that with anything RWD.

Yes.. but no different to V8's, other turbo cars etc. Good ones are out there.

Rusted & clapped out is not the same as thrashed. If you dont thrash your VL you shouldnt own one. Mine is absolutely mint with no rust and it gets a hard thrashing everytime it comes out of the garage... thats the way they should be treated imo

what you need to understand is that to most people, its 'just a commodore'.. or 'just an old commodore'... we here are vl enthusiasts, so we see them in a different light to everyone else. "one mans trash is another mans treasure" comes into play here... so while we may treat our vl's better than we treat our girlfriends... others thrash them and let them rust up because to them its nothing special...

^^^^ Not disagreeing with that at all. All I am saying is what’s wrong with a trashed VL? Rust can easily be repaired. And if you want it to go any good then you will have to replace just about everything it came out of the factory with
