I understand that research will be done eventually but that needs to happen now. There is no use pumping billions and trillions of dollars into alternative fuels in 10 years time because that will be too too too late. What is going to be the alternative to petrol in the long run. It sure as hell aint going to be electricity or lpg or diesel. Can enough hydrogen be produce to cover demand???? I highly doubt it. I would have no probelms with a 10L v16 just as long as it is not fueled by a limited commodity. America will be stuffed in our life time. They have built their economy around oil. What happenes when that oil goes and they wont be able to go down to the middle east for a war against terrorism (war for oil). I think holden missed the mark a little with building such big powerful cars (the VE) when fuel is threatening $2+ a litre. The VE has more harm than good in it for holden. I dont think it will make them as not many people have demand for cars (except polliticians and taxis and coppers) but it certainly can break them. Not the best billion dollar investment but i guess that is the industy they are in and that is the gamble they need to make. 2 things about fuel that many dont agree about. 1. GST. we are paying 10% on a good that is already taxed 44 or what ever cents. 2. all the fuel is the same. There is no such thing as BP Shell and caltex. It is all the same. There is not difference between vortex and optimax. It is the same crap. The fuel companies come together and make up the prices themselves. They are part of a monopoly (in a way) Because the industy is run by them and they are all using the same fuel (as in each others) Next time you go to Shell you might be filling up with caltex. And when ever you go to BP you definately wont be getting BP.

http://www.carpoint.com.au/car-review/1979437.aspx "The Caliber range starts with a five-speed manual-only Caliber ST powered by an 110kW/168Nm 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine. The ST is priced from $23,990. Two more engine variants will be added by the end of this year including a diesel and larger petrol engine. The diesel is a 103kW/310Nm 2.0-litre VW-sourced turbocharged unit mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. A sportier Caliber R/T model will get a 127kW 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. No announcements have been made about the local future for the 200kW (approx) turbocharged SRT-4 variant of the Caliber. The Caliber is a distinctive-looking high riding cross between a small hatch and compact SUV, and comes equipped with air-conditioning, power windows and mirrors, CD sound system, remote locking, four airbags (dual front and side curtain), and ABS. Dodge cars will be sold through 48 existing Chrysler Jeep dealers around the country." it actually looks kinda big in this picture, even though its meant to be about the size of a Lancer.... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
