just briefly....oil shouldnt affect economy and if you wish to reduce your fuel useage, use overdrive at speeds over 80 kms. you might see a reduction there.

heres the specs on my work ****ta oil: shell (whatever is cheap) diff: 3.89's Auto/Manual: Auto tune: lol whats that Pacemaker 4-1 extractors fuel: unleaded bout 350km to a tank <--- which isnt too bad considering its got a big end knock and i thrash the absolute fark outta it... fu|kker wont blow up tho.. nor does it use oil or water any more than normal edit: why did i open my mouth so soon.... spun a bearing on the way home from work tonight... its not very healthy. looks like its gonna be a busy weekend swapping motors Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

you should be doing 2 grand around 100Ks on the highway for an auto with 345s.

coolant temp sensor will cause excessive fuel. Lighter weight the oil is the less emissions and fuel consumption.

lighter weight oil = less friction, therefore, in theory better fuel economy

There seems to be a lot of ppl who do not understand these things. I have done the diagnostic test and all seems to be fine. Only thing i really think it could be is where the O2 sensor is installed in my extractors causing it to run richer. Also my idle seems to be spiking, sometimes it will idle normally at say 750RPM and then other times its 1100RPM. Any1 got any suggestions?

Munro the 02 in the extactors where it is fine... as long as its before the cat its good... unless you run aftermarket ecu and dont need an 02 then... coolent temp sensor is one thing but like you said the car does not bog down... but it could not be throwing a code... check to make sure that the terminals are not green/clogged etc If they are give them a clean with a nail file and contact cleaner... when your CTS is faulty, the ECU thinks the engine is permanently cold so you will run very rich all the time = very bad fuel consumption, hesitation, very high idle and sub par performance. If your idle is all over the place then i would check the AAC valve and adjust the idle.. If the idle does not adjust then it could be buggered... at 110kms you should be between 2,200rpm to 2,500rpm when overdrive is engaged...

if the temp sensor is ****ed. will the temp come up on the dash

The temp gauge will still read the same no matter what... A way to check to make sure is to take the plug off and the motor should rev up... Put it back on and it should go back to normal revs.. If it does not then clean both the CTS and the plug with a file and contact cleaner then try it again to see if it goes back to normal revs... If that fails then get a new CTS and plug...
