It depends how much power you are after. I have owned one auto and 2 manual VLT's and i prefer manual for the street, although if i was after more power (currently 200rwkw) i would go auto.

Unless your making huge power ya cant go past a manual.....so much more fun and controllable for the street auto's are better at the strip though so i guess everyone has different needs!

Please don't ever reply to anything i say or talk to me again.

haha i know you hate him as much as i do.. SLOBT1 what makes you say mx7's are "****"? I run a 33 box myself but i don't see the problem with the mx7... didn't xchasr (or whatever it's plates were sorry, the bresciani built yellow bt1, yellow interior) run a 10 and hold the fastest manual vlt record for quite a while using the stock mx7 box?

there's nothing wrong with the mx7 box alot of people just say i prefer auto cause they cant drive a manual and im not saying its any one in this thread and to those people who like crusin with the boyz how could you want a auto over a manual and then you see half of auto users trying to use there stock vlt auto as a manual anyways just no clutch and doing damage to there auto the only time id want a auto in any car is in heavy traffic. ie. 5:30pm friday punt rd

i aint talking about the power they can handle,im talking about feel.vl gearboxes feel like a shoebox full of rocks and sand and have a massive throw.also, compare clutch feel between a vl and say an r32.

VL's handle like buckets of shit anyway, only good for driving in a straight line... in conclusion, go auto, shift kit/manualise it/stall it whatever the fuck you want to do to it... manuals are fun... but i dont think the VL's are the right package for them

Never driven a VLT (Auto or Manual) so I can't really comment. If we were talking N/As (Driven Autos and own a Manual) I would say manual every single time. Like I've said 100s of times, the only Autos I would want, is in a high hp V8 and a hi po 6 (S/C or Turbo). I love my Manual. Although MF5s are possibly one of the crappest 5 speeds, in the world. lol I'm biased towards Manuals though, because I've only driven a few Autos, but I will always be one for Manuals. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

were are compareing the MX7 box to the vlt auto (MS1 is it ??) people are say ing the mx7 is crap man the auto VLT box is a peice of poo! weak as well the MX7 STD could hold more power than the auto STD

they both suck. stock auto boxes are nothing to write home about most mx7s are notchy and crunch gears on hard changes thats just what happends after 20years

lol don't compare strength. STOCK mx7 = good for 10s STOCK jatco turbo box = Half the time burns up once you put a cooler and exhaust on. I don't think the mx7 feels that different to my r33 box, would you agree George? It's not like i get back in my own car and go ahhhh this gearbox is so much nicer lol i didn't even think twice or take it in.

man i'v been to vic and it's ok there, up here around my area the import image is terrible.. and i dont mean the 'rice burner' image. I mean they are a joke around here, no one considers an import driver as any sort of genuine enthusiest because they are all so one eyed. Nice cars, shame about the drivers.

also if your on a budget concider replacment cost MX7 - R33 700-1000 hard to get parts for mx-7 + clutch 250-500 start with minor mods Auto 250-400 with some work done able to handle minor HP upgrades I have a stoka VLT with a manual a little clunkie (spelling) but there no where near as bad as a toploader
