i went from stock vlt dump to a 4" pipe on a stock to3 and lag was reduced dramatically.
it was instant boost when you hit the throttle.
having a big exhaust lets the turbo spin, and thats the name of the game
as far as im concerned the turbine is the end of the line as far as the combustion cycle goes.
after the turbine there is nothing you can do to increase performance, you can only reduce it.
a big pipe will never, ever reduce performance (edit) when tuned to suit

i disagree with this !
if your car was tuned to suit those conditions yes.
the fact is that stock cars are tuned to suit crap exhausts.
you can disagree all you like lol. but facts are facts
I run a 3 inch dump to 2.5" exhaust...., i put the turbo on myself... no intercooler so far (can't afford the pipes ) and all N/A stuff cept for the injectors are turbo, i'm making 10 PSI with no boost controller and a standard T03 turbo.
get it dynoed in may
