Why would you want anything else true that is a nice package.. but 13g, thats a lot of cash to play with... u could make that power and more easy under that budget... charged 383 ??? I reckon youd struggle to build a blown 383 for that. blower would cost half! but im leaning towards a blower on a more stock motor, rather than an off its head NA...

383 crank new is pretty cheap, like $500.... or even a stock 350 sure.... charger isnt 7g, go second hand with brackets.. few grand... leaving lots to be spent on the motor, then just get some half decent heads and only a basic cam and let the blower do all the work, will make bull**** power and still sound like a stock 350 on idle. Best thing about chevs is their parts and prices, rods and top of the line forges pistons will set u back not even $1500-2000.

from memory to make a 383, you drop a 400ci crank into a 350... cant be 100% but i think that was it. A crank would be more than 500 id think. a 355 is $1000! Ive seen on capa.com chargers are about 5500-7000. Hrrrm... blown chev is sounding better and better. This corvette is saw today inspired me... it whistled so hard and it was barely moving.

holden and chev are leagues apart, chev has been around for like 60 years and has an enormous aftermarket, holden would be a lawnmower in comparison.. even here and its a local engine. a 355 crank is about $1200... a 383 chev crank can be got from VPW for $300 - 650 depending which one u want http://www.vpw.com.au/productgroup.a...6&PrdGrpID=145 (http://www.vpw.com.au/productgroup.asp?CatID=4&SubCatID=486&priorCatID=486&PrdGrpID=145) all u need is a crank with 3.75" stroke, thats all it is. chargers new are about $3600, second hand is much cheaper: Reconditioned V-1 S Trim, Comprehensive 6 Month Warranty $ 2,200.00 ^ from CAPA site. course u need brackets and stuff tho Blown chevs are awesome, anyone whos seen the haddad HQ would know, this things motor is whistling death... quiet idle but a nice blower whistle, and when it goes past u on the side its "jet" noise is louder than even the 9 second VLTs That hq used to have a blown holden 355 and it went pretty good, that motor ended up in a white brock VL and u would NEVER pick this car, biggest sleeper ive seen.. quietly drove upto the line, shot outta the hole and ran the easiest mid 10 second pass you'll ever see

I'd be different I'd fit a Big Block Buick 455, The torque these things produce ****s all over a chev motor, run some Nos and you will get some good times as well as retain reliabilty. You could allso look at a Pontiac, Oldsmobile 455 or Even a Cadillac 500 cubic inch big block. They all run turbo 400 autos. I reckon I could put one together cheaper than a Chev. The 455's in the USA run 10's and beyond in cars that are the size and weight of a truck. www.teambuick.com (http://www.teambuick.com)

just single or twin turbo a factory stroked small block. It will all be under the bonnet too. A 6/71 will proptrude from the bonnet and will be cop bait and more than likely illegal with carbs on it as it will be too high!

ive been contemplating a blower for a long time, but i like to drive my car too much. once a 6/71 goes on, streetability goes out the window. didnt you say you wanted something with a reasonable stall and 3.77 ish gears so you could cruise? put a 6/71 on your car and you may as well put whatever stall and gears in it that you want because its never gonna see the street again.

6/71's are old, inefficient and outdated.... go a PD twin screw if u wanna go that path, or just go a vortech. and they look as good Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Rebuilders can be picked up for 3-4 thousand. I'm wanting a fairly good cruiser aswell as a quick car... so i would prefer a reasonably low convertor of around 3000rpm... and diff gears between 3.5 - 3.9 Do you think this is achieveable? Holden v8 in a HQ into the 10's for 10k on the engine.. piece of piss... Holden v8 running 10's NA, and being able to cruise as a nice car with smallish convertor and reasonable gears.. no way in hell.. Your gunna have to pick on or the other, and once you do, let me know, i'll tell you exactly what you need for a 10 sec engine.... its gunna be angry tho

I ran 11.6@122mph in a VN, with a small vortech blower and a VERY (Read almost stock driving) mild combo. My problem was under conveted. Blown engine and 10k tho arnt gunna go too well together....

TW089: you got an 11 sec rolla? and ur gunna sell it, pour ****loads into a v8, lose driveability, cost more to rego and run on fuel.... for what? Why not just step the rolla up? That said, if your interested in doing a blown Chev, let me know.. .i have a Vortech blower and bracket here to suit one Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
