You couldn't be any more correct, But as for the luck thing I don't believe thats true there definately is skill involved with line fishing

speaking of curious fish the niggers (black fish) are a pain in the arse , When you are stalking them in the sea weed they see the shiny tip of the spear and they come straight up to it , This is a problem when you wanna shoot em from the side , a couple of times we have got em from the front and it looks as though you have put em on a skewer or shish kebab LOL

i love fishing and it is good to see a fishing post on CT
normally when i go fishing i go always with my cousin on his boat.
best places i think is port hacking, i always go there with my cousin and we always clean up. with sydney harbour i hate it on a boat as there is too much movement, but if u want to go fishing and relax then i suggest port hacking and the Hawksburry river are the places to go. havent been to the hawksburry river in years but i heard they have some crazy fish there.
been also to botany and have to agree with in5ane when he says it is a great spot to fish.
wats the best thing to take or do so u dont get sea sick, i love fishing but if i go out in the heads then forget it, i spew my guts. i know sea sick tablets are the way to go and they sometimes work, but is there another thing that can be taken or another way to get over sea sickness for good as it really pisses me off big time

hehe haven't seen that one EAT-30T. the buggers up here (blackfish) are flightly and dart in and out of the wash so they're hard to see.i normally wait under the wash with a handful of seaweed. with weight belts you can sit on the bottom looking up, then you let the weed come up and out of your hand towards the surface. if you're lucky they'll come out and start munching on it, then BANG you hit em with a 6-prong.
OMY i've never hit a kingfish - you'd wanna make sure you hit it good cause they're powerful buggers and they'd be able to take you down if they were big enough! in blue-water you'd be rooted. i remember being in about 20 metres off 4th point at noosa once and saw a pack of three BIG kingfish go past really slowly - just cruising - i was almost about to smash one in the head then i realised i only had a handspear a bit *too* dangerous i think!
edit: i *think* they were kingies anyway. could have been something else similar, i've never seen em underwater before so it's hard to tell.

Try chewing green Extra...
Also make sure you don't have any milk or too much liquid before you go out...
Have some nice dry toast and a cup of coffee before you go and you should be sweet...
And the main thing is try not to look down when you're stationary as your balance gets farked up and that makes you feel sick...
If none of that works and you're still getting sick, then take a Quell about half an hour before you head out and you'll be sweet...

I have been fishing since i was about 7 on boats etc. I have been deep sea fishing a number of times now. I have been in 2 - 2.5 metre swells. Boy it was terrifying. Being on a 54 footer helped though
Sea sickness is... well I believe something that cannot be cured. I mean if you get sea sick thats the bottom line. I doubt there is anything to cure it. Tablets etc may help but like you said go out past the heads and you will feel the effects. Its either ou have it or dont.

yeah kingies long, narrow with a gold band along the top of them and white underbellys, for fun,i get live yakkas put a 4/0 suicicde hook through the nose with no wieght and let them swim freely with about 15m of line and then i berley hard to attract other yakkas around the boat, usually sets the kingies up,ever caught a kingy on a handline?...great fun.
as for sea sickness try KWELLS,sea sick tablets or you can buy a wrist band that also helps, drinking gassy soft drinks also helps or heavy foods such a pasta, potato etc...work off that and see how you go.

I would prefer to catch a kingfish over a jew anyday of the week. The amount of fun catching a king is hard to explain. I mean so full of energy its unbelivalbe. They wont stop fighting, even when out of the water
Best fun ever was a 9kg king on 6kg gear using a small metal raider lure... we were cruising past, on our way to the drums and saw a small school. We were not prepared so I just through in this rod which was set-up for tailor and bang. Boy it was hard.

Yeah those niggers are fast as hell , I have been diving down the NSW south coast Merimbula to be exact and them guys are almost impossible to get in open water but that was with my old gun , Not much escapes my Rabitech Apex its a Mother Fu...er of a gun , Yeah the kingy's are very fast and very powerfull , you wanna make sure you got a good float for those types of fish so you can always let go of your gun if you don't get a kill shot because those *******s RUN like a scalded wild cat !!

Love fishing.
Head down past the coast of NSW two or 3 times a year.
You blokes ever fished at Lake Tabourie ?
Theres Crampton Island which is just off the beach you can get over there at low tide walking or swim over at high tide! And further down is "Stokes" Island.
We caught 57 salmon off stokes one night. Was awesome.
Crampton is great for Niggers. Catch em with some fresh weed off a rock. And lots of little fish up to 30cm, Ling and leather jackets and that sort of shit. So your always catching stuff.
Also pulled a massive Groper from there, you fish off the East side and your fishing off a 7 mtr drop. Got the groper up 5mtrs and the line snapped.
Fuming.
Not only cos I lost the fish but we made a rule that everytime you lost a fish you had to skull a can.

Sounds good to me...
I'd come along for sure...
Anyone who is pretty serious about their fishing should check out www.fishraider.com.au (http://www.fishraider.com.au)
It's a damn good site, there's heaps of info in the articles on the front page, recipes and a decent sized forum with regularly updated reports...
