I had a VK with the stock discs up front and drums on the rear. Changed over to DBA slotted. Then changed pads to EBC greenstuff as they sounded good. And they were. I noticed the extra braking and longevity. Even more so I noticed when I changed them again (for rego) to $30 parts from super cheap. Was a bit spongier. And I can't remember them at all being bad when cold. Also I can't remember them putting out much dust.. my photos show the front wheels as clean as the backs and were fine. They were around $150 for the pair. The website might say where you can get them. And I have bought some stuff from the autospeed shop. I reckon though.. that if I did it again, and could spare that little bit more money, I would just go for the VT set up - and put good parts on them. Cheers.

I tell you what though.. I would buy them again and again on any car that wasn't my current uni s**ter. For the extra peformance (which I did notice), how often you change the brake pads anyway, the cost of cheap pads and the total cost of owning a car... I think its a pretty worthwhile buy.

bendix advance are just your standard mid range pad.. they shouldnt be too bad unless they are given a hard time and glaze up..

i would have to say ebc green stuff, there are 2 types of green for street use. there is a new yellow stuff pad, great for road and race use then there is red stuff which is a ceramic compound race pad. i'm going to trial the yellow stuff soon when i get some cash but i would swear by the green stuff.

i was just curious why you guys use just the slotted and not the cross drilled and slotted i just picked up a set of dba cross drilled and slotted rotors for my vl and it pulls up nice, is there some problems with them i should know about.

This will start an argument. But the cross drilled crack rather easily and DBA do not recommend them on the track, because of the reason just stated. Slotted are more then enough to deglaze and allow the layer of gas to escape that builds up under heavy breaking. Plus it works out a few bucks cheaper.

You have your colours mixed up, the ceramic red stuff is the road / track day compound, the yellow is a full out race pad, dont use that in a road car....... the red stuff pad didnt used to have ceramic in it, the pad was a POS, so they changed the compound, reds work good now.
