stupidest thing i did was when i adjusted the shifter on my car when it was an auto. left it in drive after tightening it up under the car. put car on the ground and continued to do some other work under the bonnet. ended up starting the car later on, just through the open window. this is when i discovered that there was no neutral safety switch. turned the car off.... and the turbo timer took over. had to jump in through the window to hit the stop button on the turbo timer. luckily i only just nudged the toolbox but i ran over a bottle of water and a few other things and was heading straight for a table... and the house... needless the turbo timer was removed after that Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Drove 300km's to Sydney to get my car tuned, injectors were maxing out way before they created any sort of power on the dyno, didnt have enough cash for a bigger set, drove back home, then realised id left the power wire to my external 984 off the relay. Not too bad of a *****up considering a new set of injectors were $1300. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I once accidentally dropped a 10mm hex key through an oil gallery and into the sump. That was pretty dumb.

rightio, Few years back decided to do a build on my old vlt. hi mount, custom plenum, haltech, cam, trimatic conversion, 18's (they where big at the time), paint, interior, full custom wireing, blah, blah, blah. Took two and a half years to finish and on the maiden drive to the servo made it about 300 meters up the road and heard know, knock, knock, knock, knock........ clicked to what it was straight away. Pulled over and asked a mate to bring me the rest of the wheel nuts and a wheel brace. oops

I'm another member of the "dropped the gearbox on my foot" club. I have a nasty scar to show from my stupidity. As for bangin' my head on the mirror, I wash cars for a living, tell me about it!

This wasnt me, but an un named workshop with a big goofball mechanic, was putting my head back together and dropped the head dowel down the cam belt pulleys. And went "f^&k it she'll be right" started it and snapped the belt, bent valve and damaged pistons. F@#kHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hmm I really want to name the workshop so no one else has to deal with this ****head Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Worst thing ive done is connect the battery terminals back up the wrong way. I had the battery put in the boot and both wires were black for some stupid reason. Anyway i connected the wires and the positive sparked a bit more than it usually does but i didnt think anything of it so i shut the boot and found all this smoke coming from under the bonnet. The end result was a few melted wires, blown headunit which originally cost $1100 and $300 to fix it, and a blown alternator $350. Oh, and when i got the headunit back i put it in and it and the stereo wasnt working so i took it to a stereo place who said ur amp is probably stuffed so i sent that off to get checked. Turned out the amp was fine but still cost me $120. I took it back to the stereo place and they had a look again and found the rca's under the passenger footwell carpet, plugged em in and hey presto its working!

Lowered my engein in. Turned it over and smoke poured out of the microtech. Got it fixed, plugged it striaght back in again and smoke central. Got it fixed, played with a few wires, plugged it in and again no more microtech. Got it fixed the 3rd time, and finally found the major earth wire crushed under the engine. Lifted the motor back out. Bolted the earth up and away she went.
