Go the VL 304,some people think because they were 122kw stock they were crap but it doesn,t take much to wake one up with some breathing mods and a brock cam.

Theres nothing wrong with VL heads,I used to think they were small valve but they are big valve unleaded heads, nothing wrong with that, whack on some extracters and fill her with some premium and off ya go.

Even Wheels magazine described them as breathless ie. Wheezy!!! Dont hear of many people retaining the stock VL heads on their hotties! You may like to advance the timing with your tank of Premium aswell...just a thought. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

My VL motor still retains the std heads and valve sizes , ports have been opened up a little and it makes a tad of 200 rwkw . adam

I was lookinh at new heads but it was going to cost to much to change over to VNs. Ill be puting on VNs when i do the engine rebuild so it all can be done at once, new heads, cam, stroker internals etc.

VN efi heads go for around 800$ i think. And flow 500hp in stock form. Good heads.

Definately proven performers but then you gotta do inlet manifold (or EFI conversion probably just as cheap) and new extractors............$$$$$$.

b cast heads are also proven to be excellent performers with the right cam choice to match the head work you can get a more than respectable streeter. check out tha K.E.C website as they have some good info on these heads with their cut n copy. think its www.kec.com.au (http://www.kec.com.au)

I used to work with a guy that ran the Bcast heads on his 355 stroker, cant remember what cam/manifold/carby combo but it did run 11.7@113ish on G grids filter and pipes off with Hornet scoop. Was a very basic setup but made good grunt and hooked up hard.

I need to know which way to go soon as i need a new exhaust and extracters so you can apriate the spot im in. stick with the heads and get the new exhaust stuff done and use the heads or pray and hope it holds up befor i can afford to do the heads etc and then replace the extractors????? do yella terra or the alike make performance heads that will go on that block but still pre EFI heads??

I think yella terra might still sell pre VN alloy heads but I still think VL heads have potential. The VL group three Brocky used pretty much the same heads, what cam are you using? The wade 242 is an old HDT favorite.

dont do an efi conversion. run VN heads with a single plain manifold, big pacemakers and a 288 solid cam.. actually, ELA-RE built something along those lines.. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

what sort of quarter mile times are you after anything upto high 10s stay with your B- cast heads but high 10s or less then go VN cast heads. stay away from the yella terra heads no use and too expensive
