21-08-05, 17:34 GMT+10#22 that would be a help, especially if its involves linkages/cable one way or the other.

22-08-05, 16:11 GMT+10#23 The setup is the same for all auto transmissions. Here's a few pics of mine after the install...

22-08-05, 16:16 GMT+10#24 Forgot to mention that this is a VL V8. They originally came out with linkage setups and you just need to change to the cable setup provided with the shifter. If you ring a stockist they should be able to help you out with the adapters required to change your setup for whatever shifter you want to install. The setup for the box that the shifter sits in was the hardest part to make and the rest was pretty much straight forward.

23-08-05, 10:36 GMT+10#26 to answer my own question...i spoke to the b and m rep and he said that u have to modify the bracket at the end of the cable or u can buy the keas bracket if u are not sure how to adapt when fitting to a jatco box

i am so keen on getting a B&M Shifter in my car basically because i think that they look really trick, i am running a stock as a rock N/A with the stockest 4spd ever, i mean stock as in it doesn't have a shift kit or transbrake or KEAS products or its not Jatco or reverse valve body blah blah blah... you know all the crazy stuff you can do to ur box.
basically i want to know two things
1) Can a B&M be bolted up to my car and are the ones at Autobarn for $320 any good or are the pro ratchets from TUFF CAR PARTS the better way to go??
2) What are the advantages of a B&M in my car, if any, i mean is it possible to run through the gears or something like that cos thats what it sounds like u guys are saying
yes guys i will admit that i am still learning alot about the internals of a VL but this is the only way i will find out!!!
cheers guys

hey man, im still sorting through the process but what ive got so far is yes they can be adapted, keas do a bracket for the box to adapt the cable from the shifter, do you have an s1 or s2 sries commodore, the basic difference is 1 is alredy cable driven and the other has a linkage setup. Im pretty sure a 3spd B&M will do the trick as the 4spd is unused all you need to do is move the overdrive button somewhere else, ive got a missle switch in the console anyway and no longer use the orange one on the t-bar.
Its good to hear someone else wants to do it as i'm keen to do it but really want to find someone whos done it already.
Cheers

25-08-05, 16:19 GMT+10#30 the pro ratchets are universal 3 and 4 spds so u can use it on either. they bolt straight up if u buy the keas bracket which i have been told is around 40 bucks.
also to the duff. u can pickup from me aswell at $309 which would save u the freight charges.

25-08-05, 22:00 GMT+10#33 oh by the way my second question wasn't answered
does it make my gearbox like manual or something or the keas box and shifter are just for looks???

26-08-05, 07:48 GMT+10#34 its no different from manualy shifting the auto now, just a different mechanisim attatched to the box, the ratchet action means the shifter sarts and ends in one placce not stepn foward like it does now

26-08-05, 12:05 GMT+10#37 Josh - all the b&m is going to do is REALISTICALLY is give a different shifter appearance, being the stock box and drivetrain they don't handle being driven through the gears ... Took me 3 of the gearboxes to realise how weak they are. I personally wouldn't bother fitting one ... if your into workin on the appearance, put that money towards something a bit better

29-08-05, 18:38 GMT+10#38 fair enough, i would still like to adapt one for aesthetic reasons, who out there in keyboard land knows someone whos put one on a commodore, 6 turbo or n/a, the setup is still the same?

30-08-05, 20:54 GMT+10#39 Mate the B+M shifters are mint to use when racing but for everyday use like parking there a bitch! ie. going from 1st to reverse!
anyway i luv em, you'll also have to make custom brackets or a tub for the shifter to sit in so it clears the stock console covers.

31-08-05, 14:32 GMT+10#40 i can handle that, its the auctual fitment to the gear box im trying to get photos of, or if someone has a template to make the tub for it to sit in so it retains the factory console.
