I broke into my own vl the other day.. Never done it before in my life, and it took me about, 30 seconds aswell. Now I'm rather scared at how easy it is.
have mine sitting in the backyard with the dogs. Good alarm that pages you.
also, i keep a baseball bat next to my bed. you know, in case i get woken up...
without gettin into details, i had somethin stolen of me once. My bro knew someone that knew someone etc. that was braggin about stealing this thing of mine. 2 weeks later I knew where he lived, where his parents lived, who his gf was, where he hung out, where he worked and who his mates were. Ha, after what happened next, i bet he'll learn a bit about who he's thieving off next time if he was still stupid enough to keep doin it.

I think by having a key that would be a advantage.
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
you dont want it to get stolen simple sell it hehe :P
good alarm system off the street parking behind all the other cars is good..
2 cars sit on my front lawn one is a calais turbo the other one is a 300zx one problem is if anyone trys to break into any of them they wake up the perents myself and my gf and you know when people walk down my street its dead at night...
a simple kill switch is the easiest way, and with the car being EFI theres heaps of spots you can use to immobilise it
an alarm is always a good idea tho, you can get half decent ones with shock sensor for $99 at jaycar. for $150 you get one that has a battery backup siren and a code hopping remote. another $40 gets you a set of ultrasonic movement detectors.
and $7 for a piezo buzzer that makes it very very painful to be inside the car while the alarm is going.
a tilt switch would be a good idea too, not sure what they are worth but should be able to add it to any alarm that dosnt come with it.
add an extra manual kill switch to all of that and a club lock and unless the person gets hold of your remote and knows where the kill switches are, or is clever enough to trace the wiring to find them .... then they will only be able to take it on screaming on a tow truck
Nothing worse then a car getting flogged.
Just get a good alarm, those mini piezo sirens are gold.
Solex locks, stops c unts from using there vb - vl keys to open it up.
Red flashing lights, put off most thiefs.
And yeah dont go to the movies, shopping etc with your vlt. A thief only needs 5 mins of alone time to take your car. So while your enjoying the movie your cars half way to afghanistan.
And if your car is nice enough and gets flogged dont expect to ever see it again.
I have a total of 7 kill switches in my cabin, a viper alarm, fuel cut off switch, solex locks and more.
ive heard baaad things about solex locks... heard of 3 guys who each had solex's on their cars and they could all open each others with their own keys
plus apparently they are real easy to pop off with a screw driver.. turn and open
shaved locks is a great idea, but if your battery goes flat then i hope your handy with a coat hanger! windows can still be smashed tho...
The best thing you can do is get a top of the range alarm with all the extras. Heaps of kill switches and immobilizer points. Club lock, plenty of hidden piezo sirens to blow their ears off, shave the locks off and take the door trims off and fix all the weak points in the locking system which makes it so easy to break into. Keep it under lock and key in the garage, simple things like having a gaurd dog, sensor lights etc... Definitely park a car or two behind it, thats a big detterant, and even then if they want it that badly they will take it. The only thing you can do is make it harder for them and slow them down alot and with a bit of luck they will give up. And another big no-no is taking your car to the shops or anywhere really and leaving it unnatended for more than 5 - 10 mins. Buy a run-a-round car or use your girlfriends car

you can get GPS tracking systems for about 800-900... my VL had one but the previous owner kept it
it wired into the existing alarm, had a GPS arial and a mobile phone arial... you put a sim card into it (prepaid or what ever) and when ever the alarm goes off it will call you straight away and tell you whats going on, will give you co-ordinates of where it is and you can shut the car down remotely if its being driven (through a seperate kill switch to the alarm or any manual ones)
Whats this bout solex kits..i heard aswell that they just pop off wif a screwdriver and it aint too much of a hassle to crack the locks...can any1 vouch this is true?
Dude i could get into my vl with the key to my datto, or any other key as a matter of fact... dont forget the screwdriver...no joke.
My mates VR Clubbie was pinched from his driveway, which was right next to his parents bedroom and it was *****in loud too. All they did was get in, somehow disable the alarm before it went off, stuck it into neutral and towed it away...didnt even start it. Cops found the car 12 hrs later...stripped. Totally raped. only thing in the car was the frame... nothing in the engine bay or inside...even the seat belts were cut off and attached to the front to pull it.
Point is starting the car and driving off isnt always the way its gonna be pinched. Block your car off with another car, gate or even better garage it. Obviously you cannot do this in a parking lot, but i seriously doubt someones gonna tow it away, so an immobiliser and alarm is still the best option there.
fuel taps work ok too ... I got car back because of this simple thing . Thief ran out, got very confused as car stopped in traffic and he bailed. Mutha ***A still cut out the autometer boost gauge but hes doing 5 years now!

Not always the best method..
I've seen a brand new magna broken into and moved out of a driveway, left on the curb so they could get at a VH commodore which was parked up the back... Obviously they knew what they were taking as it was a race prepped big $$ VH.. point of the story... if they want it, it will be taken
.
i just park myne in my garage all doors locked and my garage like links onto my backyard so the dogs can get to the garage if they want and yeah we got a german shephard/red healer and a full muscley staffy so if anyone was to try and enter my garage id hope they were quite and quick
those viper alarms that gktech sells are quite good and have many extras that can be added to them
plus insurance companies love them... i think there brother the COBRA alarm is coming out soon also and is just as good...

if u can lock up a wheel and stop it from being able to roll around theres a good chance they'll take ur stereo but at least u still got ur car...
alarms will stop most of those pieces of **** trying to steal ur car but u cant stop em all
Fence off your house with a 3 foot high fence that has a sliding gate that can be locked. With that have halogen floodlighting with sensors and you can even have an external PIR sensor for an alarm system. Program the alarm system to make the keypads beep when triggered. Combine this with a decent car alarm with a few loud screamers and hidden strobe lights and many kill switches it should be fine. Also to help prevent it from being broken into you should somehow make it harder to slide the internal lock switch. Somehow make it require alot of strength to slide it as this will make it harder to slide something in to unlock it. you can also use the car boot lock to lock your wheels. The Clublock is also good. You can use pedal locks and even wrapp a chain around the pedals and then chain it to the steering wheel.
