If your looking for 300fwkw i would be useing the starr manifold as the look original but work alot better for something between 250-350fwkw. otherwise use the active & a quad t/b a step up again but looks 1/2 carby 1/2 efi & bonnet room may be a prob. From there it's come or groupa or walker. From what i have heard & not used myself is the hat for the twin t/b on the Active is where the restriction lies because of its design & for that reason i would steer away from it use a quad t/b.

i run a 750dp holly ontop of a edlebrock victor junior manifold. pushing near on 200kw at the wheels with a tiny hydraulic cam. and i agree very much with VK355, they are the same things i had heard about them..

if you're chasing 300fwkws and you're genna use VN heads i'd go for the torque power d/p and the EFI hardware 1000cfm 4-barrel throttle body... thats what i'm genna use Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

For a budget i agree a harrop single plain with a 1000cfm throttle body is best, but im after a neat setup that will fit nicely under the bonnet, and they just look too 'carby style' for my liking, and the twin hat approach is looking to be too restrictive for me. Bonnet clearances are also an issue with quad throttle body (and eight) because they have very short runners and hence you need to run long trumpets and need some kind of air ducting for best results, requires too much effort for me I've come to the decision that its worth saving an extra grand and going for the come manifold as it has both execellent flow figures and retains a simple, clean engine bay, all under the bonnet. Wagonshaw - i've enquired previously about those custom twin throtts when he first made them, they are still based upon the orignal manifold runners and aren't quite upto the level of performance i'm after, they're more for a budget build like the active setup. I'm chasing 11's in N/A form once the 355 is running, so i haven't got much choice apart from come. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I agree with everything you said as $1000 in the long term is not much to spend and have no regrets but also in saying that if you are only chaseing 300fwkw the starr manifold will also support this probably not much more though on an n/a motor & still look relatively like a factory fitterment under the bonnet. Group A manifold is the better flowing one compared to the COME racing one... as the the COME one starves the two rear cylinders of air... the Group A one doesnt shame about how much they go for 4k is too much! so in my books go a quad throttle setup with a custom induction setup and it will be awesome ive got the plans for it! The reason I wont be using the original manifold is the donor car was in a frontal collision and the has cracked the intake part of the manifold. And yes by 300kW, i mean flywheel, as thats all i need, like to keep my licence.
