Yes it was on a dyno dynamics dyno, chassis dyno, it is at a HDT dealership in WA, and everyone says he knows his ****, he said it is incredibly healthy when i spoke to him again today, he said that was the correct power output, and i only lost 8.6% thru drive train, which i thought at first was quite small, but he assured my that it was 169.2 at the fly and 154.2 at the wheels, the car is also a manual, so yeah, was just wondering if u guys thought that was a okish firgure, no need to start abusing each other.

come on the cruise fri night... would love to check your V8 out
Maybe on a really old dyno you would see a 30% loss.
Real dyno losses are more like.
4WD 20%(Approx)
RWD 15%(Approx)
FWD 12%(Approx)
There is approximatley 2-3% difference between Auto and Manual.

this is exactly the same case....
a 1000hp car isnt goin to loose 150hp

How thick are you buddy ?
1000hp was used to show 30% doesnt work & you have yet to show that it does apart from make comments about what other people say.
30% will work at a given point say a 100hp & then it becomes a slideing scale so how can you use that for a rule of thumb ?
Thankyou for reading
You may even learn something.
Cheers

i do understand where you are coming from.. but the way i see it the driveline of a 1000hp car would have to be stronger therefore the rule or thumb is fairly in play here because a stronger driveline would take more power? im not saying im guarenteed to be right, your probably right... but im going by the things that i have seen and experienced..
cheers

I agree, a dyno tune is good for getting a perfect tune but the power figures are just a guide I reckon. It's how the car performs at the strip over those magic 400 metres that counts!!!!
how do you know how much power a 1000hp car loses between engine and tyres? its different for every transmission. 150hp doesn't sound too bad for trans loss but i don't have a clue. but yes, quicksilva, id say either your wheelpower was overquoted, your engine power was underquoted or you have a really efficient drivetrain coz those figures are closer than normal.
VK355 is getting frusterated (is that how you spell it??) ..... he is right though.... I dont want to argue or anything but for arguments sake you cant tell me that because a rear end is built to handle more power its going to take more power..in any case its probably gonna be better that a stock unit if no the same amount... if you use better quality parts eg.strange floating center and better bearings etc. etc. there will be less resistance!!!...and about this percentage bullsh*t it doesnt work!!! Its gotta be a figure of loss. Cause if it is done your way then a top fueler is losing 2100 hp thru its rear end!!! Highley unlikely!!!(7000hp - %30= 2100hp).... its never gonna be the same figure of lose from one car to another...depends what they are running g/b and diff wise!!! For eg. A nine inch losses more than a B/W cause the pinion is set sorta under the crown wheel as compared to the B/W which is side on!!! Ford didnt think that one thru did they!!!

Finally someone who can work out simple maths !!
Your right it is frustrateing yet so simple to see/work out.
As i said b4 you can use a percentage but 1st you have to do the sums & convert to a percentage & you will notice it's a slideing scale so not very accurate on it's own.
Cheers Big Ears
