hrmm u know looking at that pic above.. doesnt look like it would be hard to just remove the injection system altogether and run the bitch on gas would save a lot of heartache with the efi/fuel system adaption issues Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

yeah i wouldnt really know i suppose my mate was lucky being in the torana pre-emmissions so i think it got engineered with the aftermarket ECU

interesting! VL400 or anyone that knows the motor well, is it easy to work on? like easy to strip down, no real difficult bits? are the heads easy to remove e.t.c? in a soarer they only do about a 15.1 - 15.2 qaurter pass, u could say the car is heavy but mine is even heavier than that and only did .2 seconds slower Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

yes but from what i got told the actual moto weighs less then the holden v6 because soarers have heaps of electrics in them there not a light car although what are you thinking of putting it in??? As i said my mates was completely stock just aftermarket and extractors and it ran 13.4 on street tyres mind you the car is not heavy

it would go in a VC if i did it, but i cant see it happening unless you're a fabricator or something, the sump is gonna cost u a lot of money, as will the extractors and getting it to fit on the k-frame/engine mounts e.t.c.. then u need a box to hold, not to mention getting it all wired up, lots and lots of cash there its a nice motor, but a bit too strange and sopshisticated for a basic 'home mechanic' like me to play with... whereas i know a holden v8 like the back of my hand.. i got a brand new o-ring VT block sitting here that is craving to be boosted Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

http://www.webwombat.com.au/motoring...s/1_03_bul.htm (http://www.webwombat.com.au/motoring/news_reports/1_03_bul.htm) check out this link, shows what the 4 litre donk is capable of with a reliable factory blower setup, but to spoil it for yas, in the bullet roadster ss it puts out 320kw and 550 nm

Just to clarify a few things. I did the conversion in the shed and was the first conversion id undertaken. Using the factory Lexus computer is easier than wiring up an aftermarket ECU, i did initially use a Delco ECU to run the engine but it was starting to cost too much. Used a Wolf3D V4 Plus which runs every Lexus sensor including idle control, couldnt be happier with it, starts and runs as well as the delco made the 5L. If u buy a LS400/Majesta engine (same type of car, one is the Lexus version other is Toyota) there are no mods to the sump needed - it clears everything in a commodore. The oil filter assembly fits and is in the same place as the holden V8 one. The exhaust manifolds need modifying but if u have a MIG it's piss easy to do. There are now aftermarket parts available, new cams and a 8 throttle body intake on an otherwise stock engine gives around 350rwhp. Forged pistons, stronger rods, better bearings, heaps of head bits and pieces (springs, retainers, shims etc) are now available. Stock engine with 9psi of boost will give up to around 350rwkw, biggest killer is the 10.2:1 compression but with good tuning at lowish boost it aint a problem. Gearbox is no problem as Dellow and CRS do bellhousings to suit heaps of variations. It is a pretty simple engine to work on, is pretty well thought out with all wiring in little sealed cable trays under the black covers so very easy to fault find individual wiring - no elctrical tape around the wiring. Internals are very simple, no rockers, no balance shafts etc and if u can build a Holden 5L u could build a 1UZ. Hope that answers a few questions.

There are a few ppl experimenting with LPG injection, main reason is to keep the EPA happy. If setup properly it shouldn't be a problem, there are a few dual fuel setups getting around on 1UZ's (so have the mixer/carby system before the throttle body). The intake manifold is a two piece design, the top plenum is removable leaving 8 runners that all face upwards - makes it easy to adapt new throttle bodies or plenum (just block up the injector holes for a straight LPG setup). T350 needs an adapter plate which is available, if it had a removable bell housing it would be easier and better. The standard 4sp Lexus trans (A341E or A340E) is about the same strength as a T350. Stronger internals and modified valve bodies are available if needed. It is the same box as the JZA80 supras (2jz-GTE engine) and basically every 6cyl and up toyota.

Stock engine, never pulled it apart - runs fine. I bought just an engine and box, no front cut as it wasnt needed.

damn, i wish i knew how to work on cars properly. Dont have the time to experiment, but i would love a 1UZ to power my VL, and to pay someone to put it in would cost an absolute ****load. damn it!
