$1.5-$4.5 depending on where you go , best way to determine what you are gettin is simply compare the quality of work done compared to $$$ qouted between painters and then pick which one you want to do the job ..
for eg. you don't go buy a computer because it costs more you look at what goes into it ..
my cousin vlct is in the oven today will post pics on the weekend as i said full bare metal respray with over 700 hours in prep work but it shows u can see even in highfill how strait the car is and all the gaps are perfect.
YOU GET WHAT U PAY FOR & also the QUALITY of the PREP work will determine ur resprays outcome
Yeah, don't have any good prep pics yet Greg, but i will post up when i'm finished. Yes, if you've never repaired/prepped a car before expect it to look pretty average and don't expect a show job. Get help from a panel beater mate if you have one. They have heaps of valuable do's and dont's. I've done lots of dodgy prep before and it shows in the top coat.
You could prob save a lot by removing all moulds and stripping the outside of the car for the panel beater, ie door locks, chrome strips, plastics etc etc etc.
Cheers.

sounds good should wack up a new topic to show off all the work you put into it , I love watching a good paint topic , what colour did you get it painted ..
i swear resprays cost crazy amounts of money. even if you bring the car ready prepped to the spray painter they charge at least $2000 for just the labour. take into account booth hire of $300,what other car related trade can u earn that much in a few hours? gives me the ****s spraypainters charge like brain surgeons
yeah should have pics up real soon its not my car its my cousins but the mate who sprayed mine did his also just rolled it out the oven yesterday and the prep work shows ****ing smooth as glass and flat as there just rubbing it down now to re-clear it (flow-coat) its a facotry colour over a white base and u wanna see the pearls and **** come out in it...his hoping to have it up at easternats full rebuild of driveline and bare metal respray...
spraypainters charge like brain surgeouns?? how much money of that do u think the tradesman sees, for busting his arse, getting sick along the way from all the **** we have to use to paint the cars. alot ppl think u just chuck the car in the booth, go squirt squirt and its a showroom finish, countless hours of work can go into jobs.
also ur car gets fixed by insurance, the quote is 3000 for example. so thats what the company pays. shops have to factor everything out of that quote, parts, materiels and wages. do you know what a tradesmans worth to an insurance company??
30 bux an hour, all the **** to fix the fu ken things and 30 bux an hour. i can think of alot of automotive trades worth more than 30 bux an hr.
yeah i think my mate said he was in the booth for 21/2 hours painting the car from what ive seen first hand they work hard for their money like anyone else does.
SIMPLIE U PAY PEANUTS U GET MONKEYS
Yeah but you go and spend 10K on a paint job and some little **** at a car park takes a key to it or a mum with her clumsy fat ass and kids takes a shopping trolley and oops!
mate i was talking about just painting it not including prep labour. Somebody said there car was in the booth for 21/2 hours....how is that worth $1500 and above?? does a mechanic charge $1500 to change a motor? This would take minimum that time and charge bout half that....also if u dont know anybody its hard to try and find somebody who will spray the car for $1500 and thats not including the prep work.
theres more to it than just sticking it in the booth and pulling the trigger. so the cars prepped, still has to be cleaned, then masked which can take anything upto half a day, then ya 21/2 to spray it, if its being flowed it comes out, unmasked, then sliced back, u can have a days work there, then remasked then back in the booth, by this time the booths been run twice at 350 a pop(there not cheap to run) then its sprayed again then buffing/polishing then cleaning. all that more than justifies 1500 bucks and thats with no prep. everyone thinks the smash trade is a rorting bunch of assholes when really most are struggling to make ends meet

exactly
this cost me 15k and in the pic,its straight off the gun. its all ppg. just the ppg stuff cost me $2500 from a mate who is a ppg rep. you will get what you pay for!
