i know some cars (eg falcons) have a boot release and fuel cap release button in an individual cluster and i was thinking of adapting one of those but never got around to it.

The Falcon comes with a long cable you can manipulate, whereas the VL boot solenoid comes with a short rod. So it's not really suitable.

Im pretty sure the one i have here has a cable on it, maybe it wasnt originally off a VL? I know what you mean about the rod design, my other solenoid had the rod type.

No VLs have a solenoid with a cable attachment.
