Mine is 5 speed. Pretty sure its factory also... The boxes arent the best, very crunchy sometimes. I had alook around at some 5sp VL's when looking for my car, and some were pretty shocking! My box doesnt chirp 2nd or 3rd at all... It might sometimes chirp 2nd when im really up it. But that doesnt mean anything, as I smashed a VL 5 speed that would always chirped 3rd gear.

It mainly depends on how you drive and your technique with swapping cogs .....

Apparently all the Nissan boxes are a bit notchy, one reason some members have said they've mixed about 25% DexronII with the gear oil in the box.

Yeah apparently the auto fluid makes them a bit smoother. Any side effects ?

Haven't done it yet so don't know. There's a thread on here about gearbox oil and a few members replied there saying they use it. Doesn't appear to be any side effects as far as abnormal/premature wear goes.

i converted my vl to 5 speed about 6 months ago, well worth the money i say seeing a auto vl around here is quite rare, everyone owns 5 speeds

Well toaday at work I saw about 20 VL's and not one of them was a 5 Speed and three were Calais which is also quite rare wher I live.

i've got a 5 speed, not that rare, just hard to find in one piece.....

i have a factory 5 speed aswell... took me about 2 months to find one over here in perth in the condition i wanted

what mods have you got rover??? that is a dam impressive 1/4mile time ... n/a?

But I am most likely wrong. yes you are wrong... yes its a n/a, 178.7 rwhp, 5 speed (mf5), 3.45 lsd. cam, chip, intake, zorst. on 14" 185 tyre's. 60ft is bloody good for the car and tyres. got the 4.11 mini spool in the car now so i'll have a go at beating deano's 14.3@ 95mph. he also has a rb30e 5 speed.

pfft lol Hey rover, Man that is some serious times really for a NA.. Can you hcuck me a PM of what else you have don to teh motor such as cam sepcs? Seriously man.. with the minispool and 4.11 gears youll be orcking on... but how the **** are you going to get 14's? PLEASE PLEASE prove this!
