Blue_vl_t im seeing it already ... front cover of street machine two ford blue lx torana hatches with 10 second rb30's in em ... just like hvatos and ono30t in street commodores mag. Your engine is way more hardcore than mine, my engine is just a fuse-engine whereas your engine has all the good bits!!! Can't wait to get a serious bottom end in mine, although with abit of luck and good care i should be able to put 18-20 pound into it as is for a few passes. That turbo doesn't look that small to me paul!!! Nice manifold aswell!!! Mine looks something like that cept it's a downmount. The hothouse green hq or whatever it is looks pretty sweet aswell ... What a driveway!!! Few questions blue_vl_t: Is there room for the intercooler where you've got it aswell as the radiator and thermos before hitting the engine??? I was thinking about taking out the grill and cutting the front bumper to make room for the intercooler however if it fits in there i might do that, saves cutting everything up and re-painting it. Have you wired the Haltec in? obviously in the pics the wiring isn't run but just incase it has been done already ... do you know how much of a mission it is to create a single loom? How are you adapting the two speed glide to the rb30 (crs kit)? What is the advantage of using a glide over a jatco or trimatic? Did you make your own sump or oder it through crs? If so could i get a picture of the oil pick up? This is because i've already reversed the sump just need to work out how to make the pick up. Where are you going to run your exhaust? Through the wheel arch? Is that easy to do? and is it legal? what can i say ... great minds think alike, good luck with the build ... the race is definatly on to see who can get it going first Dean

the green machine is a td cortina wagon, 17"wheels etc, ( soon to have twin turbo 4 litre.) I have had an intercooler in that position with the radiator and motor, very little room for thermos though, I was going to mount them on the front, The two speed adapts with a Hugos raceglides adaptor, the bellhousing has to be cut off the two speed, then this adaptor bolts to the pump on the front with the new bolts that come supplied, then a std jatco bellhousung bolts to the adaptor. I dont have a sump yet, will come from crs though i recon. The exhaust fits down behind the turbo without cutting anything, there is a fai amount of room there actually, was going to use 3 1/2 inch. Do you have extra chassis welded or bolted into your hatch? keep me posted.

Gezz blue vl t your driveway just keeps getting better. I take it the cortina is gonna get a nissian 4 litre twin turbo??? No i haven't done any chassis welding except for a small bit in the engine bay. The lips that hang over have been cut off and seam welded, hence the paint look'n **** in the pics... atm the moment the engine is out again and i've grinded half the bay back to bare metal ... just gotta finish it and paint it. I'm gonna keep it black with a blueprint pearl through it. Still need a plenum guys ... has anyone got a secondhand series 2 jdcustom plenum for sale with an xf t/b? Does neone know if he is still making these plenums and what they cost new? Dean

I think that answers some of Sinister's questions as well. What I've been told is there both the same block. We're talking red motor, yes 70-80. I going V8 to go slower, as I'm building a Fakenshaw. Also a 6 in a car like that just wouldnt be right. Hence the reason to go V8. edit: If I have to get another block to do this then I'll have to get another block to do it. As these (253-308) blocks are a throw away item. Where as I have the 304 crank ect brand new. cal-a-kid, No probs, yes I need the bell housing. I'll orignise this (the freighting) next week as I'm moving house. PM me your account details and I'll transfer the cash in the next couple of days.

I've got a bellhousing that came out of a vb commodore that had a 253 in it if that is the bellhousing you'll need? Are you going to be running an hyrdulic clutch? If so you'll have to mount the slave somewhere as this bellhousing was designed with a mechanical clutch. Not sure on what bellhousing you'll need for a I've got a feeling that you can put a 304 crank into a 253. VLT_RB30 what pistons are you going to be using? I've got a set of 30thou over pistons and a set of 40 thou pistons over aswell for a 253, if you ever needed anything like that. What account details do you need exactly? You'll have to tell me where and when you want me to drop this box off. Dean

blue_vl_t: don't limit yourself to the ford 250! When i said 4 litre nissian engine i meant: VH45-DE Type: 4494cc EFI DOHC 32 valve V8 Power: 208kW @ 6000rpm Torque: 400Nm @ 4000rpm Gearboxes: RWD 4-Speed Auto Source: 96-97 Infiniti Q45 Then imagine twin turbo'n that! It's actually a 4.5 litre but there is also a 4 litre available however they have a carbie :-D perfect for the cortina. By the way these engines pump out more than 208kw's just this is all nissian quote them for due to legal reasons. Stick with the nissian engines blue_vl_t. Dean

Already have the motor, its a 4 litre 6 cyl from a 1996 folcon ute, its actually my bothers cortina, he has one of the two vl turbos needed, if i buy a highflow for my vl, (the one pictures in the avatar) then he can have my other std turbo from that. All in the name of budget, recon it will be a bit laggy, not sure, what you guys recon?

just on the 253-304/8 issue, i believe the 308 bore is around 4 inches or so? and i do know that the 253 bore is the same as the old 202's. if you were going to strech a 253 ,you'd need a stroker crankshaft. most production blocks are near or on the limit at 60thou oversize. aftermarket blocks are usually thicker in the bore sleves and its not uncomon to be able to push them to over .125 thou out, but its not a consistant thing as every type is different. just buy a 308 block. the 253 block main point is beign under capcity rules for p plates in certian states.

With the extra exhaust gasses produced by a 4 litre and the stanard t3's spooling reasonably early on a 3 litre then i don't think it'll be that laggy, coming on at like somewhere between 3-4 grand i'd imagine. What is ithe engine going to rev to? Dean

id run small manifold pipes to keep the gas velocity up to the 2xturbos

4 litre ford motors dont rev much, probably only 5600 rpm max, they have a long throw on the crank.

Is the cortina going to be manual or automatic? Did you see the green xf falcon in streetmachine mag not long ago with a turbo'd 250 crossflow? For a ford i must say that it did actually look pretty good, and had the go to match. Don't wory fellas im not going to the darkside, holden boy through and through. Dean

Yeah i can't wait either swifty! is your vl turbo? Whats it got done to it? Do you cruise around down the strand much at all? Yeah it's definatly gonna be the only one is townsville, but doesn't look like the only one in australia anymore, that is if we count tasmania as being part of australia blue_vl_t :-P I'm glad someone else is doing a similar conversion though as i'll be able to get some tips and pointers, which im no doubt gonna need Dean

You'll have to tell me where and when you want me to drop this box off. Dean I'll have to find out about the bell housing. The details I need are: your name, BSB No., Acc No. and bank. I'll send my address once I transfer the cash. With the transport just need to drop it off at Northline frieght and I'll pay them once the box is here. I'm using a 253 block that I finaly picked up, its been reco'ed about 5oookm's ago. The engine builder is fitting a 304 crank with the standard rod and ACL high top + 40 pistons. Gives me a ratio of around 11:1, as this motor will only be running on gas. TQ20 Crow cam, anti pump up lifters, double valve springs, 2.02 inlet and 1.06 outlet valves all Crow Cam gear. PJ timing gears and PJ HV oil pump. Mallory twin point dizzy. 4bbl manifold fitted with Impco gass gear. The heads will be mildly ported as well. This should be completed in 2 weeks.
