I was running a twin GRA throttle body setup on my 78 Statesman with a mild 350. All up I had 1000cfm and a massive single Century convertor, a 3/8 braided line from the 90 litre tank, a huge lock-off and short lines from the the convertor to both mixers, professionally installed and dyno tuned, I was pulling 300 flkw. This setup was also very responsive, no flat spots and a steady supply of power through the entire rev range. awesome stuff it is, and in those days (around 5 years ago), LPG was 14 cents a litre on a bad day, so who cared about the economy!!!

Yeah, gas is kick ass, anyway you look at it, just make sure you have lots of spark My car is making awesome power for what it is, and I know that there is around 60hp @ wheels there for the takin, just by fixing my exhaust and slippin trans, that would make around 250rwkw, with a T04 and pump LPG and 10psi LOL. I have an imported USA 7ltr gas mixer on mine, really big sucker LOL, Twin gas convertors (B2) with another 2 waiting to go on, 50ltr APA tank, twin lines, twin lock offs, XF trhottle body, and with straight propane, it'll flow enough to make more than enough power. Honestly Albert (Daylesford) is the guy to ask about this sort of thing, he has plenty of experience. The limits of gas, and propane, hahaha what limits??? Honestly if you have the time and money you can make as much as anything out there, 800rwhp+ no probs. and as far as computers go, LINK, Haltech IG5, Delco, it really doesn't matter, I was gonna use Autronic SMC, but since your only using the ignition side it's a bit of a waste, but lucky Petors found a IG5 for me, which works a treat. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

From what I understand, pump LPG is a mix for 40% Propane, 60% Butane, Propane being the more volatile of the two, but Butane makes cheaper to buy and is more compatible with duel fuel cars. Theres a place called BOC in Ballarat which has 1 bowser which sells straight propane, and I'm yet to try it out, it's apparently very very potent stuff. Big boost will be very easy to run with a tank for of that stuff.

jason ran straight propane in his silver xe one night and had the car singing on 25 psi all night long. He said if he could ever find that again it would have been an easy 10 out of the car. The more out bush you are the better the LPG is. The LPG out there is also used to power stoves and other things like that so has to be of better quality (more propane). In the city its closer to 50/50 mix. Im sure ive seen supagas with a price for propane and a price for LPG at their gas stores.

Wicked under boost, but surges slightly under slight load. I'll get specs if you like Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

if you guys are keen on gas do a bit of research on gas injection, heaps easier to setup. Uses your injectors and runs a special program through ecu to run them. This way you still have all original ecu settings but your on gas. http://www.gas-injection.com

I just rang them bro - they are still in development stages, however it does look interesting, the only problem is that each one of those custom injectors will only flow enough for 33.3 flywheel kilowatts. so - until more research / development is done - shes a no go

I read that post of Adam's and im like, SAWEET.. then i read Petros post and i got dissapointed lol. eh.. by the time that gas injection is ready and making good power, i could have had straight gas installed for a year or 2

what are good conversions worth? also does the tank have to be in the boot?

My conversion was $2200 for gas related parts and labour, small tank, lines, mixer and convertor. The was a bit of fabrication involved, but apart from that, it worked great, and no tank doesn't have to go in the boot, but most installers will highly recommend it.

so expensive... why does it cost so much?? assuming u already run dual fuel... converters are worth $290ea i think, throttle bodies are $440 (used to be anyway, might be more now ) Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I have been extensively researching LPG turbo setups and from what i can gather, in order to make big to insane horspower like 300+rwkw, the problem that arises in supplying enough gas to the convertors, twin b2s and a 440 can supply to goods, its just getting them supplied with gas properly. from what i can gather the standard lockoffs are only good for around 130kw each, which can become a restriction at the engine bay. a way to overcome this is by using the vaccuum operated lockoffs with a boost reference line attached. More importantly the issue with extracting the lpg is the tank, if you look there is only 1 small electronic lockoff attached to the tap, this is the area of concern, there are ways around this, by removing the lot and running a bigger then normal line to the front, or by removing the lockoff and running twin lines straight out of the tank, however these ways are highly illegal, and probably dangerous if there was ever a leak issue. I am yet to come across electronic lockoffs that can come in bigger sizes to flow more lpg, or other ways of getting around it, i know it can be done but im not sure how. the way I am thinking of doing it, is fabricate a plate that replaces the single lockoff/ tap and have 2 highflow lockoffs coming straight off the tank, hopefully this will flow enough gas, my power goal is to get 300-350 rwkw. I hope this is somehelp to people, and if anyone knows any more secrets to tank mods pease let us know or pm me!

How many lines from the tank would u be using?

twin lines, running from each lockoff from the tank, most people just t-piece the standard lockoff then run 2 lines, but would like to run 2 lockoffs (more flow) or if i could buy an oversize lock off, run 1 big arse flexi gas line then t-piece at the engine bay. its just hard to find info and people dont let on about tank mods either.
