A mate of mine was putting an RB30et into his LJ. Haven't heard from him for a while so I dont know how far it has come. But he was looking at low 12s with a setup mainly for street and circuit in mind. I will see if I can get some pics from him and put them up. I think its a great idea, but for the effort, I would just do a VL. But I prefer an LX with a V8. But ya can't argue with the power and economy of an injected turbo. But a nice V8 sounds heaps better to me. Decent power, but horribly uneconomical.
he must hav done sum major engine bay work to get that turbo n manifold in there
theres no way it would fit the the chassis rail n guard how it is
he would hav had to remove the inner guard for starters
i always thought of doin sumthin lik that
1 of my mates used to hav n awesome black original GTR wit a worked 202 in it wit triples
went damn well!!
imagine wot a 600-700hp+ 26/30 would do
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
Mad idea i reckon ... Light car with big hp ... what more could you ask for?
Troyvk, im putting an rb30et in my lx torana hatch and castlemain rodshop make an entire kit for the complete conversion. I believe they even make one for the lc-lj's. It includes the reverse sump, oil pick up, engine mounts, gearbox crossmembers and speedo cable. I'm buying it piece by piece and making what i can myself.
I'm not 100% but i think the rb30 blocks are identical to the rb25 and rb26 blocks so therefore im pretty sure the same kit would work for whatever engine combination was decided on.
I can't wait to get mine going. It's a fully rebuilt bottom end with 30 thou over, ceramic coated pistons. It's a got a re-ground crow cam and valve springs, as well as some headwork. I'm up to the stage of sorting out the turbo and manifolds now. Got a t04 this week so i think that'll probs go on with a custom exhaust manifold, fmic and plenum. Still alot of work to do but it'll be worth it in the end.
