304OVQ - tell your friend that if she goes on the "hyundai forums" (if there even is such a thing), I'm sure they'll even say don't buy one!

my mums got a 1997 hyundai coupe 2litre 102kw 1340kg, its pretty good, goes alright, had not problems with it, paint is good, has all electrics, porsche suspension (handles as good if not better then my vl), very very economical, its never had a problem except 1 of the gaskets have blown, but that was from me flogging it when i was on my L's :P, but yeah everything else is fine, we bought it for 38grand now its only worth 15, so resale does suck, but the paint is fine, it all depends if u look after it or not

I saw a hyundai excel that my girlfriend's dad was working on with a blown head gasket, where some water had leaked into the cylinder. When it was cranked over, the conrod bent! Seems to me they aren't made of very sturdy stuff.
