The car needs to be reasonably roadworthy for the show and shine and it would need to go through scrutineering (generally prelimanary judging is done there). There is a list of requirements that can be found on www.springcarnationals.com (http://www.springcarnationals.com) I urge you to check those.
I really hope this changes your opinion and anybody else who was umming and arring, I hope to see the VL turbos up there in force, please come see me i should be floating around the Rare Spares stand on the round-a-bout.
Morgo, should come on down was a great year last yr.. and would love to check out PSHHHT! Both myself and my boyfriend were driving our VL's round, his is kind of done up and mine looked shocking and neither of us got pulled over once. Easier living here I guess- but majority of the coppers are from Melbourne that weekend- just obey the laws and you should be right.
Ill be there most of the weekend probably

That's complete BS mate, there were just as many if not more cops there in 2003. Also I know many people who were EPA'd or Canaried up there last year as well.

Sounds good. haha The street cruise up there is wicked!!!
I wouldn't say I have a lot to worry about regarding the police, the cars on gas and the cars roadworthy, so I dont think theres to much else they can pick on me for.
Probably just put it in the show n shine, then cruise home later that day.

Look, you are entitled to your opinion; all I can do is re-iterate the facts.
2001 saw a tragic accident, which affected police attitudes in 2002
2002 also saw a state wide police operation "clamp down"; Shepparton & the Springnats were one of the spots targeted (increasing police numbers dramatically for 2002)
2003 operation clamp down was to return to Shepparton and the local police protested o behalf of Springnats attendees, operation clamp down never came (meaning less cops) .
2004 we are back on track, do the right thing and you will have no problems, behave stupidly and dangerously and you will undoubtedly and disorderedly be booked.

Hey ive been involved since springnats started way back in 1992 hardly herd about anyone being canaried up untill that bloke and the truck so i reckon this is about to change for the better as for epa,s they are a law to themselves nobody controls this group not even the police
see ya there addo
Steve we seem to lack Police attention a fair bit more then others wouldnt you say.
I have never been pulled over in my wagon. On cruises etc. Never. Its always the bright yellow BT1 that gets nabbed...
Wagons rock....
If mines done I'll drive up there...
No need for accomodation as I will chuck my "custom made" mattress in the back.
(clark rubber loves it! )
Chicks love it!!

P.S Wellsy Clark Rubber rox my wagon too!!
I already got a Green and a Yellow sticker so i aint got nothing to loose lol..
But yeah fck that.. dont take your car up if its modded unless its on the back of a trailer with the plates AND REGO Sticker taken off or they will **** it on the trailer.
Cyas there

Been there since the first year and i've seen a lot of changes (the first year the cops were waiting outside the gates booking everything!), the way i see it is if you go there as a spectator you can have a good time, if you are taking your car be prepared to cop it (even cars on trailers aint safe!).
For those really worried and who dont want to bother towing car trailor all the way... theres a possibility that we can arrange to meet u out of town and put your car on a trailor and trailor it thru town then at the other end of town let u off (at deca) for a small charge... anyone interested PM me and I will see what we can organise

Leith is right.
2002 was crazy for canaries...
2003 wasn't as bad but still you could easily get booked when doing the right thing just cos the cops thought u might do wrong.
Hopefully this year common sense will prevale and only people cought in the act or there car is obviously not roadworthy will be booked and it will return to an enjoyable event.
It'll never be like it was the first year i went (when i was 18) and i doubt they allow parking at the lake again which pretty much killed the friday/saturday night cruising and drinking in public which is the way the cops like it... But that was what it was all about 5 years ago, when it was something write home about
Oh and then there is the action at DECA which is always good! I don't know if i'll be marshalling again this year, haven't been contacted yet anyway.

Leith:
So your saying if you drive a modded car, don't do anything silly nothing will happen to you if you go cruizin on friday and saturday night?
What about the "defect station" they have setup behind the local library? I am sure that will still be there along with all the arrogant epa guys.
As for the cops not being bad last year, I know of a few people that had to sell there cars after last years event because of the authorities.
Bring back the good old days I reckon. 5 years ago you could cruise around all weekend without getting so much as a glance from the boys in blue.
I think they should allow parking down at the lake again as that was the whole atmosphere.
I have spoken to Spring Nats Organisers again and i am told any entrants that believe they have been harrassed on the weekend are to put the incident in writing to the organisers ASAP so they can follow it up.
