17-09-04, 18:01 GMT+10#21 yes PSI is expensive, but from what I have seen, he does good work, and knows his ****... but thats just from what I have seen.
I have heard horror stories about him, and every other workshop in WA... So really the way I see it, unless it happenend to you then it didn't happen (or you didn't tell ya mates while drinking cougar!! lol )

18-09-04, 00:46 GMT+10#24 if you dont learn from other peoples experience you will live a very frustrating and expensive life. not only do sst blow engines through carelessness regularly but they are arrogant pricks. i prefer people who are happy to have your business as well as knowing what they are doing.

18-09-04, 03:57 GMT+10#25 The thought of taking a car to a workshop scares me crapless.
You name a workshop, I can guarantee you some bloke out there will have a story about how they blew his four grand rebuild into little bits.

18-09-04, 12:38 GMT+10#26 yeap thats it...
droo if you went through life listening to what everyone said and taking it as gospel, you wouldn't leave your house ever..... Listen to what people say, but take everything they say with a grain of salt..... Make your own mind up...
there is 2 sides to every story... I know a lot of people who go buy all these bits, and then skip out at the machining part and wonder why their motor ****s itself at 7000+ rpm... but they don't tell u that the engine builder told em that and they say " don't worry or I can't afford it"
or the tuners that I have spoken to that get a bad name coz a car that they tuned comes in, and the owner goes, I want as much HP as possible. When the tuner says ok, but the tune will run like crap, they go i don't care....
So the tuner tunes it that way, the customer drives off and is back 2 days later coz it idle's too high, has crap fuel economy, is lumpy as etc.. and they say that its ****.. and want it fixed... so the tuner fixes it, but it looses power... then they go bag the tuner out saying he can't tune cars, but they don't say what they wanted out of it..
I think alot of it is peoples "unrealistic expectations" or lack of automotive knowledge.
I'll give u an example of something that happened to a workshop about a month ago. im not naming who either.
A customer was chasing some twin throtts for his V8. the workshop had em, and gave him a price, fitted and tuned. they guy said he wanted more HP, and they said that it would give more hp, but they couldn't say how much..
So they put it on... It makes about 40rwhp more than it did before with the std manifold. They still haven't tuned it fully yet either. The customer wants to drive it for a few days, so he takes it...
Then he comes back saying that low and mid range torque was gone, and they said of course it has... Your forcing more air through shorter runners in the manifold, and your motor doesn't start making power until about 3-400rpm...
So he chucks a HUGE ****, wants his old manifold put back on, and his deposit back. They said that they haven't finsihed tuning it... he says to them, that it was making less power. they bring up the before and after dyno runs, and the peak hp is more, but it doesn't start to make power till later with the twin throtts...
He is going to have the same problem with any twin thrott manifold. But he now goes off slagging that workshop off, when really it is his expectations and lack of knowledge (he now wants to put a COME twin thrott maniold on which will be worse) that have caused the situation...
I think that some people read street commodores mag, and see that this car makes this hp and does this 1/4 time, and thinks that they can do the same, but doesn't understand whats involved, and doesn't have or want to spend the money to do it... when it all goes sour, they blame the workshop that did it....
im not saying each case is like that, but alot are... All im saying is that unless it happened to you, then there is more than likley more to the story...

19-09-04, 14:45 GMT+10#27 ive personally had a bad experience with Turbotech, thats all i say!
i'd send it straight over east. JPC was one of the cheapest around for hiflowing a std t3, and they have the results to back them up. but then i'd recomend just going str8 for a gt35/40, problem solvered!!!
