11-11-04, 20:50 GMT+10#21 like you said extroana with your mates R8, my brother had his boot like that with his Vq statesman, accept he had twin 12" mtx subs running 400 watt each and the subs when the centre was folded down, the subs were behind the seat section and the ports were facing through the seat sounded very good... mind you the box was huge... and you barely heard one bit of bass outside the car (when windows were up)

13-11-04, 10:33 GMT+10#24 2 subs facing eachother is the stupidest thing i've ever heard, they will cancel out eachother to a certain degree and facing sideways isn't really gonna get the sound into the cabin as much.
and since ur not sitting in ur boot with the music on (i hope) it doesnt really matter if the boot is 'filled with bass' or not.
i'll say it again, i got my sealed 12" facing forwards through the 2 5" ports in my parcel shelf and it really pounds, the bass is deep and big, the only prob is parcel shelf rattles if i pump it up, but it stoipped my boot lid rattling!

16-11-04, 14:18 GMT+10#26 I have my two 10 inch cadence subs facing towards the back of the car. I've found that facing them that way as opposed to towards the front of the car, allows for much deeper base.
With the metal support on the back seat, you can almost think of the boot as acting like a second sub box. Shooting out into greater volume of air will ensure a much greater and deeper base.
Having the subs face towards the car for the newer cars without the metal support is mainly for looks. I'd much prefer to have mine facing towards the back of the car providing better base rather than looking good....

16-11-04, 14:50 GMT+10#27 Well I just laugh when all the people have been talking about noise cancellation by pointing the two subs together, but then they have them jammed against the metal sheet that divides the cabin and the boot. Hmmmmmm
For newer cars though it does look good, but on the other side its also pumping it straight into the cabin, if the box is decent enough I don't see why it'd be any less bassier. It'd have a bit more kick to it though for sure.

30-04-05, 20:20 GMT+10#28 Dunno if it's relevant but my sub faces the rear of the boot, and on my headunit you can select the sub to work either "normal" or "reverse", which basically does the opposite whenever the sub moves, so it pumps it backwards into the box and its ported into the cabin. Sounds alot louder and bassier, with less rattles but I'm not really into the doof doof crap huge bass so I changed it back to normal cause thats the way I had it set up for so its just the right amount of bass.

02-05-05, 17:11 GMT+10#29 if changing the polarity on the head unit makes it have more bass then there is cancelation.. prolly with ur 6 by 9's...

02-05-05, 17:29 GMT+10#30 hmmm, i have mine facing towards the cabin, and my box is a VL boot sub box, made for VLs, so if i face it the other way, it will take up room in the boot .....meh, i shall try it anyways.... tomorrow.

09-05-05, 21:58 GMT+10#31 facing away from the cabin sounds better for deep resontaing bass as heard in r&b/rap.. for techno ****, face em towards the cabin...
In my last car i had the boot setup with 3 soundstream 15" sub's two were reverse mounted, aiming at the cabin, and one was standard mount facing outwards. it sounded awesome...
Depends on what you like... and considering that 3 in 4 of the human population are tone deaf in a manner of speaking, most people wont notice the tonal difference anyway...

08-06-05, 01:21 GMT+10#34 Some of you need to learn a bit about what you're talking about before you post i reckon. No matter what setup has been mentioned, everyone claims their system sounds fcukin sick maaaannnn. I've got a custom box with 2 12" kickers, box mounted hard up against the metal divider, with two holes cut out that the subs fit into. who gives a rats ass if it illegal, as if they're gunna take my back seat out and peg me for that. And takes up the least boot space possible. Imho it's the best sound for someone who likes all kinds of music. Good quality bass. I sure hope you work out how many litres your box is before you port it too, as it can be worse than not porting it at all. Nice size box with wadding, is the go. Also, 6x9s are all good on their own, but can cancel out bass freqs from subs too. Better off with a set of splits, as the whole reason for the bigger oval shaped cones is to provide more bass, and who needs that if your running subs??? 6x9s are crap.
Fyi your ears are getting permanent damage after something like 96Db, my setup pushes 136, my ears ring most the time because of that, so anything more is plain stupid for an everyday driver. In My Humble Opinion...
