Vlt Dreamer - That last one is better and theoretically it should work just as good as a standard VLT one. The first one is one of the single most disgusting things I have ever seen.

Well - im not too keen on paying for new piping and relocating the throttle body (and accell / cruise cables) and possibly having to relocate the power steering fluid reservior either. I'm pretty sure that will cost a lot more than making up a new airbox 1/2 the size of the standard one. I might pop into supercheap and see if theres other panel type filters about 1/2 the size of standard and see if the airbox can be modified - or get some quotes for a custom one with pod filter enclosed in it. out of thin air, would $200 - $300 for a airbox with pod filter be about right ???? or should i budget for more ??

anyone know of any cars with airboxes about 1/2 the size (across the long side) of the VL airbox ?? might be an idea to pick one of those up and adapt it onto the VL.

I took the cross over pipe and airbox out and put the pipes in to mock up where they will actually run - this photo shows how much room i have to work with in regards to a custom airbox.

And another pic just to show how much room above the cold air hole the pipe runs.

I wonder if having an airbox below the guard is legal - fabricate a pod into one under the guard.

that's a very good question actually, i wonder if it is? probably being outside the engine bay it would be, but you never know. so long as it's enclosed it might be okay? either way it'd be a bit of a grey area in the regulations so i'd just do it.
