use vs brake booster and vt master cylinder it all bolts straight up all you have to do
is get adapters for the brake lines to change male to female ends and remove the adjusting screw from the booster i picked them both up for $150

I would but something seems wrong with using something that important and it is made of plastic.
What sort of booster does a v8 use?
I've got nissan 4 spotters and VT 330mm rotors under 16" rims, there's no room left...
I also used a skyline booster and m/c and changed my pedel ratio. I've had heaps of comments on how well it stops! Check my site below and click on brakes.
The vs booster and vt master cylinder are a straight bolt up with the vt master having
a 32mm bore and work excellent why mess around fabricating everyhting to fit?

This is very interesting. Out of all the different threads i have read on this topic, no one has ever said that you can just use a VS booster and the VT master will just bolt up.
Brilliant!
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Its just that the vs booster is single diaphram and plastic that steers me away from using it.My original one is dual diaphram and metal and it physically looks stronger......vt one is metal as well.
At the wreckers I have seen these vs boosters broken in a accident where the motor has only just pushed on the side of the booster and the plastic snapped.

You can probably get new ones from Holden?
i dont think all VS boosters would be able to accept the VT master. My VS had the exact same booster/master as my VLT setup. You may find (guessing here, havent actually looked into it) that the VS series3 utes may have had the VT brakes etc, so maybe a booster off a ser3 VS ute will bolt up to the VL firewall and VT master???.

All the ones I saw in the wreckers on vs cars were the single diaphram plastic type and had a master cylinder that looked at a quick glance just like the vt one in bolt up dimensions and overall length.
Does your car have abs as all the vs cars I saw had it too.
CHAMRA1, do you have any recommendations of the best setup to use for the bigger brakes.
Have your customers given any feedback as to what modified booster and master combos they are running at all?

CHAMRA1 - have you had any experience modifying the R32/33/34 skyline booster and master to fit a VL?
Never tried the Skyline Booster or master cylinder ,
But I know they use a 7/8" bore master cylinder .
The 1" bore VL Turbo master is pretty good, But because they have secondary
bore they sometimes hold air in them and give a soft pedal if not bleed properly.
When fitting a master cylinder you should always bench bleed it first then fit onto the car because of this .
This is all thats realy needed to fit bigger brakes .
The VS Booster and VT Master is a good combo , The VT master is very easy to bleed and its a quick fill design , Which means it always fills the piston stroke quicker then ordinary masters.
The thing is with bore size , If you have a smaller bore master cylinder and bigger bore piston diameter on the calipers you will get good short stroke pedal before the brakes start working, But you will end up with a soft pedal too .
Go the other way and use a bigger master then the calipers bore you will get a good firm pedal but the throw will be longer before they start to work.
With boosters it makes no difference if you use a single diaghram N/A or double diapgram VL Turbo/V8 booster the end result will be the same .
The only reason the VS Plastic booster is good because it bolts straight upto a VLs firewall and also allows the VT master to fit onto that .
Then the only other thing to do is get fittings from Racebrakes for the lines , from concave to non concave .

Are all the vt master cylinders the same in size right through the different series and engine sizes....that is is the series 2 one or the one to fit tthe v8 any better than the six cylinder stocko model?
All Vt masters are the same.
With the VS booster you need the plastic one .I think they are the same V6 and V8.
But I know 100% on a series 2 is plastic .
You just shorten the rod that pushes the master by 9mm and it bolts up.
On the VP series 2 onto Vs you don't have to change the fittings in the master to match the lines on the car because they already match ones in the VT master .
Concave .
CHAMRA1.
ok, so with my brake setup at the moment - skyline 4 spots on the front, i have a firm but really deep pedal, which i dont really like at all. I have been suspecting pedal ratio as being the problem here as the skyline has a very different pedal ratio to the VL. Figuring that the VL's 1" master cyl should be able to cope easily with this, as you stated the skylines used the smaller master cyl, and the VL rear calliper has identical piston area to the skyline twin spot rear, i figured that the pedal ratio would need to be modified to fill the bigger front callipers quicker, this reducing the pedal stroke.
When Brent (HSVSUX) fitted his brakes they had to modify the pedal ratio, i beleive they dropped the pushrod hole by about 8mm. He said that after this he had great pedal feel.
Now Twinvl took a different approach to correct his deep pedal when he fitted the nissan 4 spots on the front of his VL. He adapted the complete skyline master and booster, and also changed his pedal ratio (by a lot more than brent) to be identical to the skyline pedal ratio. He also says that after this he has great pedal feel.
So.. from your experiences, what is the best method to get a good short firm pedal, using the nissan 4 spots on the front of a VL? . Ill be using the twin spot rears too, but as they have the same piston area as the VL rear calliper it wont change anything.
And any news on the rear skyline calliper mounts yet?
My car runs silicone brake fluid so if I was going to put the vt master cylinder on I would need to clean out all the internals .
Do you know how the thing comes apart as I can see how the proportioning valve comes out from the front but I can't see how you would get the actual piston assemblies out of the bore from the back where the booster rod pushes on the cylinder?

Figured it out there is a rod that goes through the front piston that sits in the front resevoir part of the cylinder that you just put pressure on the rear and the rod falls out and you can get both sets of pistons out then...too easy.
Hey Scott, i actually went further than the skyline ratio. standard Vl 5.2:1, skyline aprox 4:1 and i went to 3.2:1. Not havin a go, just saying.
I think my original M/C always had air in it like CHAMRA1 said, it never had a good feel, that was half the reason i changed it.
