20-08-04, 19:55 GMT+10#22 mate nobody can see in my windows. I can't even see out the bloody things at night. But it does look good.
I see what your saying and your right. If you can't see in they won't see your stereo and stuff. But if the car looks good they'll want it anyway.
Instead of a switch for the fuel pump, use a key switch. If they find it, they then have to get around it.

25-08-04, 13:06 GMT+10#25 If you want a good anti-theft weapon, sleep in your car with an Aspe close, you know, a baton that extends. When the ****s try to take it, hit them in the back of the knees, which will take their centre of gravity from them and force them down on to their knees. Once there take out their arms, don't hit them in the centre of the back or head as it could...kill them.

14-01-05, 00:39 GMT+10#26 tints are good, prevent the glass from shattering(ie. tints holds em inplace when the glass cracks). and for steering lock....they can just say ur sterring wheel.

14-01-05, 09:28 GMT+10#27 My car was stolen and recoverd the other night So I'm getting some solex locks, and a decent alarm. Can anybody recommend a good brand? Preferably looking at 3-point immobiliser, microwave sensors, and central locking. What other features are useful in an alarm? Budget is ~$500.
Cheers,
David

17-01-05, 09:34 GMT+10#28 mmmmmm a good quality alarm youd be looking at a little more dollars spent. Id reccomend Viper or Cobra, theyve got some good gadgets ie. Remote start and little pager units. You can wind your windows up and down remotely and you can get em with multi point immobiliser. But youd be looking at approx $800 - $900 not installed, and installation is not reccomended if you dont know what your doing as i have installed alot of them and i still come accross problems that are hard to work out.

19-01-05, 15:08 GMT+10#32 yeah i have replaced my old ignition barrel because u could start my car just by turning it not using knife, scissors or any key... But i will be getting solex soon...
people have said its bad to take ur locks out and weld it up because some times the central lockin can stuff up, is that true or not..

19-01-05, 16:18 GMT+10#33 i dont see why it would stuff up....not sure about a calais but in a normal VL with aftermarket solenoids for the central locking it shouldn't affect anything.

19-01-05, 20:44 GMT+10#34 Just make sure you have terminals to get to the battery in case it goes flat- and make sure you have a spare remote.
My car got broken into the other night and my headunit stolen.
Looks like they used a vl key or similar to just open the door and get in and take the headunit. First thing they did by the looks was ripped out the little interior dome light.
So anything that attracts more attention then what they'd want sounds good to me. More lights on the interior, that are harder to take out etc.
And a good alarm, hmm, my old one wasn't installed at the time, but I'm investing.
