a police officer could be walking up the road and he can still estimate your speed. They can do it, they do do it, and most of the time they are right.

They aren't the law, they enforce the law cops can be wrong too, and you can beat them but you gotta be prepared for some big court & lawyer costs Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

my mate on more than 1 occasion has told me how hed been pulled over for speeding and he said to the officer ' i dont mean to be a smart ass or anything but would i be able to see the read out on the radar, as i dont believe i was exceeding the speed limit at all' officer then stated ' just watch your speed limit. also if you dont speed you dont get a fine=no trouble no revenue i do feel sorry for the vl owners who are constantly harassed by the police day after day for random lisence checks(5 times in a week, 3 times in one day...crazy) but if you dont take it personally(like i used to) then it works out better for us vl drivers, i mean you would want your vl to be pulled over by the cops if someone else had stolen it.. yes? i know i would. Also i go to Coburg/Preston every day.... number 1 suburb in Melbourne to have your vl stolen(RACV stats)

Because if it's not banked then they can't close off the file and this has to be done for the demerit points to be deducted. from experience i've found that most cops in nsw are fair and resonable, in the past i've been booked and then shook their hand and asked their name. With one exception, for which i'm still waiting for the summons so i can put my side forward.
