Yeah mate, what mods do ya have? I've done a fair few to mine but I haven't done a dyno run yet, so maybe I can get an idea if our mods are similar.
ive done way too many mods! here are a few cam, heads, pistons, chip, throttle body, extractors and 2.5" exhaust to name a few.
It ran 15.39 a calder almost 2 years ago on 17's and in 40 degree temperatures. Would be heaps lower if it was cooler and i actually warmed up the tyres.

Ok, so maybe I can't realy compair figures to yours as I haven't nearly done that much... I proberly would like to get a cam, bigger fuel pump and chip before I'd leave mine alone.
Tell me, when you got your cam and chip did you notice a reasonable difference in performance? Or did you get all your mods done at one and therefore can't tell?
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
When i had my engine rebuilt, i had it all done (internals). Xf throttle body i had done 2 weeks ago, i didn't really notice any difference with it, gave me an extra 2 rwkws, but it is a lot more responsive and the curve of the graph picks up a little quicker thats it.
To be really honest i never noticed it until i took on other cars and started to beat them, and these cars i never normally bet, like my mates Au XR6 pursuit ute. he used to beat me by 3-4 car lengths when it was stock then i ended up beating him when i had the engine done by 2 car lengths, he sold it soon after and bought an El xr8 and i still beat that, by a car length, except at calder where he ran slicks, he beat me by .12 of a sec.
I wanna bring it to calder soon to see how much of a difference it makes now, but this time i will have stockies on and running in cool temperatures, not conditions that don't suit my car, just for the sake of getting more runs.
As for a fuel pump i still use a stock one as it gets plenty of fuel so save you money pipebom.
Syrus, I know I may be being a pain here but that's about the power I'm looking to get out of my N/A 5 speed. Any chance you could PM me a complete list of mods that you've had done? I've got a spare Chiptorque HP3 cam and chip lying around, as well as a head that I'm going to get rebuilt.
Would love to know how much port work, if any you had done, what kind of valve springs/valves and all that, from someone who's done it and had it work well. Also if I could get away with just rebuiling the head, or am I going to need to go inside the block too?
Cheers,
Ben
well i did a full rebuild including the block. As for the full list and specs mate i cant help you there, , cause im not going to go and give it away, sorry. it's taken me a long time and money to make it a powerful n/a'.
I had a heap of problems with the lifters, with them ticking and **** and still have but there is nothing i can do about that, the cam is just too big. I really dont know how much the heads are ported either. As far as i know they are heavy duty valve springs.
You could get away with the head and cam package and still make some power and go quick, theres no problems there. just experiment and have fun. you can make a car go as quick as you want it all depends on what you want to spend.
with n/a's (i have owned 3 of them) i found the best combo was
5spd manual trans (auto chews to much power from a N/A)
2 1/2 inch exhaust, gutted cut
pacemaker extractors
CAI
XF throttle body on stock ported mannifold
shaved head
i didnt get any power figures but I could beat a V6 POS with ease
If i didnt go turbo I would have liked to have ported the head, custom mannifold and custom extractors, cam and chip but for the effort goin to a turbo is the easiest way to make a heap of power..
syrus, if you're having lifter probs hav u tried solid aftermarket lifters, its risky 2 use them will stock rockers but if u use aftermarket rockers with solid lifters it should run much better assuming you get all the figures right, eg. lift. (okay maybe there's only one figure 2 get right, lol)
if anyone is considering getting a lumpier cam its good to get a kit with the cam and rockers and lifters, i've been quoted 500 for a roller rocker kit that comes w/roller rockers and assumbly and lifters.
Oh yea my mate had his vl berlina dynoed at 90kw wheels but not quite sure if its right because its only a cheap dyno at the local TAFE so.
Mods included:
2.5 Catback Exhaust
K/N Panel Filter
20 Degrees Advanced Timing (PULP)
sik exec if that result is accurate the car must be doing pretty good, the advanced timing would have slightly reduced top end power so the car must b mint if thats what its producing.
Ran my auto 86 vl berlina with no other mods besides the cold air intake and pulled a 16.82. Got pacemakers sitting in the cupboard going on soon as can offerd the rest of the exhaust package, will post the results should be all done and tuned by next cpl of weeks. Getting a Genie mandrel bent 2 1/4 inch system into a hiflow cat into a single muffler.
