At least Holden have some order to their naming, Ford like EL, AU, BA.
LOL. They must just pick letters out of a hat or something. :P

Yeah it's a shame holden bring out models so close together, must cost em a fortune in design and parts remanuacturing.
It's doesn't look very different from a VY, but I spose holden always bring cars out and leave the same basic shape for 2 models: VN/VP VR/VS VT/VX VY/VZ.
Why would anyone buy a new car? when you only have to wait a year and get something similar for 2/3's the price.
As PSHHHT stated here the models are the same shape, but also every second pair is the same body also, VB,VC/VK and VL were all the same body as were the VN,VP,VR,VS its just the guards and light etc. that were changed,
i hope im right lol
same as the AU series and BA's all the same doors etc

*shrug* I don't like it, but it's all been downhill since they stopped making LX Toranas IMHO, with the VL being the only bright spot
Too true... apparently, since remaking the monaro, rumor is that once there finished making commodores, there gonna start re making toranas
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

02-07-04, 19:06 GMT+10#25 I reckon it looks alright.
However, Commodores and Falcons are losing their uniqueness. They're looking more and more like European style cars every model.

02-07-04, 19:30 GMT+10#26 They look more like each other every single model too

02-07-04, 19:56 GMT+10#28 Too Right 351, not only are they looking more and more European which is not suited for aussie conditions and i hate this cause i am a HUGE Holden fan and a Patriot LOL

02-07-04, 20:39 GMT+10#29 Holden went down hill after 88 anyway, what were they thinking with the VN, and that VZ should be asshamed, there is only so much you can do with a VT. If the BA XR8 or GT had a Holden badge id be buying one of them before that thing.

03-07-04, 04:57 GMT+10#30 They should stop trying to make aussie cars look like euro cars. Today's performance cars are just so... tame. Like they have the power etc, but jeez.
My mate has a fairly stock XA GT hardtop. It's nothing lightning fast compared to some cars (but not all that slow either) but the noise that clevo makes through it's twin pipes... it sends shivers up my spine still to this day, and he's owned it for years. That noise really is something. He's currently trying to sell the car and I'll not miss it's performance but I know I'll miss hearing that thing rumble around. It's just the kind of thing that really stirs something in you. Who doesn't love the noise of an angry carby V8 on song?
XR8, CLubsport, SS, *shrug.* They must still be able to get a grumpy note legally out of these things. I always look twice when I hear a mean V8 go past, and I can't think of a time it's been coming from a late model commodore/falcon.
I guess my point is just that new "Performance" cars have the go, but they don't really have the personality to match.

03-07-04, 14:04 GMT+10#32 If that is VZ.. looks mad to me.
yeah the new HFV6 is quad overhead-cam (finally)..
and is 190kw NA in the 3.6 litre version, and if holden keeps the 3.8L tradition (which is whats happening), expect more power.
I heard about the turbo 3.6L with over 300kw!
Can't wait.

03-07-04, 15:42 GMT+10#33 Im not that impressed. They all look the same man!! No creativity what so ever.
They did a great job making a unique car with the VL calais, but i think they've been gradually going downhill in the imagination department. IMO
I used to be a Holden fan. Now im just a VL calais fan.

03-07-04, 20:09 GMT+10#34 reminds me of a MY03-04 rex. AU was the periodical table symbol for 'gold', the Falcon the was suppose to save ford. Pity it's the one f@cked it. 'BA' I believe is for Barium, or Bury 'em...

04-07-04, 00:43 GMT+10#35 I don't think they choose their model names through the periodic table.. if so whats the symbol for ****?

04-07-04, 05:34 GMT+10#36 Loud'nLow, whaddya mean, meant to 'save' Ford? Ford were doing sweet before AU. And even though AU wasn't a roaring success they still sold as many as they expected to. BA was a maker or breaker because they invested so much in it, but it wasn't going to be hard to top Holden's effort on the VY... namely because it:
- has a crappy V6 in it that no-one in their right mind wants
- is ugly as crap.

04-07-04, 14:40 GMT+10#37 hey that V6 is still good! its pretty ****en good in the VY, just very ****ty in the VN - VS..
we smoked a WRX in my mates VY 3.8L (non supercharged they only put out 152kw) no word of a lie.
The only bad looking VY is the executive, and maybe the berlina.

04-07-04, 19:11 GMT+10#38 i reckon it looks fine, except for that little scoop thing on the side :S IMHO
but then again i love the way all commodores look pretty much, except vn/p and vr (vs gets away with it cos of ecotec :P)
These obviously arnt official photos, but can they be confirmed as real?
Has anyone seen the next monaro???

04-07-04, 21:15 GMT+10#39 I know that the next monaro has new tail lights and head lights, and twin exhaust.
Hopefully they put the VY front on the monaro, seen that custom before, sooooo damn good!

05-07-04, 01:44 GMT+10#40 new v6 motor is awesome from all reports, mate's bro is an engineer involved in its design and has been test driving it. quite a step up from the boat anchor v6.
personally im more interested to see what they do with the box. hopefully they piss off that current hammer-shift crap-excuse for an auto
