well there is different ways to get a candy effect, you can use the silver (i would use the finest silver u can buy if you want it bright) base and then the tinted clear (wich u can also alter the colour of the clear for brightness. or with the candy i painted the base was an orange mettalic with a red tinted clear over the top, looks awesome in person
when you say fine do you mean good quality? would the asteroid silver be any good? thats what im doin the bars in so i could save buying different paint for the candy base

1. 2-pak is designed for an oven and if the paint doesnt reach a certain temp the paint will never cure properly because the chemical reaction needs the heat to work properly
2. you paint a car without an oven you get a lot more dirt in the job, thats a real prick to get rid of
3. because the paint takes longer that means its softer for longer so also dirt gets into it more
4. paint flows differently in different temps, baking at 60 degrees allows the paint to flow and even out.
as you would no there are different 2pak's that go off at room temp.. yes there are, BUT, they are designed for small fast jobs, ie 1 or 2 panels, you paint a respray in that and good luck when you have to cut n polish the **** out of it, thanks steve
hey sorry dude i was just trying to help
Thats the problem with the "pro" only no one way
and they think its the only way..

yeah i no what you mean dude if you are careful you will not
make it very high when you fill it but if it is a bit high
yeah just very lightly sand it flat and dont just sand the chip
sand very lightly in about 10-15cm around the chip
"ultra fine" is the filler comes in a tin like body filler..
yeh 2pack filler would be good to fill in those chip either block it down dry with 180 and then 320 by hand or use either 400 or 600 or even 800 on a block wet to rub it out eitherway
cheers

thats bull**** too, i know plenty of ways, ive explained the things that can happen without a booth because its the best way, your trying to help the bloke, im trying to help him avoid f**k ups, i have ****loads of different ways to paint a car mate

you dont have to but if you want to go the hack and do a brilliant job bare metall always is the best way, if not the paint only has to be sanded back till its dull and flat looking (no orange peel) the paint underneath is most likely acrilic so if you have any rub throughs (through the colour) make sure you put a spot of primer over them as it will fry up in the 2-pak, you can fine fill the chips but i would block them out and put a spot of primer on them

if you dont want some one that doesnt no what they
are doing to stuff it up, then mabe the best Answer to there question
is dont touch the car at all.
there are thousands of very nice 2-pak cars around than were
not painted in a paint shop..

true there are, BUT there is a ****load more work needed to get them looking as good as one thats been done in a booth

umm..only thing i could add is....are you aware that candys fade very fast?
yes they do because the tinted clear has basecoat in it, but there is ways around that, the one i painted in the 2-pak costs section is a basecoat then clear basecoat binder which is the tinted clear and then 2 coats of clear, no fading will happen
oh and if i dont want someone to stuff there paint job up i wont say dont touch the car at all cause that is obvious to everyone, but if someone wants to have a go ill help em with the right answers, i dont talk **** and ive painted enough cars and ****ed up enough to know whats the best way to go about something
