v8s own your rb30s, no contest, but thats another agument.
To the original poster, Legally u will need to change the suspension and brakes but u dont HAVE to do it. U need to put in a k-frame from a vb-vk 202 engine (v8 motor bolts right onto it)

mate its not hard, a RB30 does come in turbo form. and now ur gonna say well what if u turbo the V8??
the RB block which stands for Race Bread is built for turbo applications wheras a holden V8 might be strong but it still uses pushrods. u hav to change a lot of **** to get them to handle the power of forced induction.

Thats actually not true. Since the VL V8 has the lowest compression of all the V8s(thats why its low in power from factory) its compression of about 8.5:1 is suited to forced induction. It doesnt matter if it uses pushrods or not, this can be seen by Brett waine and Eddie Tassone, pumping out 1400+hp@wheels. But, like any other engine, if big boost is required, forgies must be used.
The main hassle to turbo charge a VL V8 is the fact that its a carby. Yes there are Carby turbo setups, which produce BIG power, but they arent as reliable as Fuel injection.
Ppl always knock the VL V8 because of how it is from factory, but like an other engine rebuild, compression etc is changed, so the theory that VL V8s are nuggets flies out the window when they are modified.

turbo v8s eat turbo 6s... whats the highest hp skyline going around? i only know that mario guys gtr and it does have HEAPS of power at the wheels, but still so far away from the big v8 boys, some 600rwhp or so? at a LOT less boost.

^^^^^^
ok rip everything out for starters from radiator to gearbox!!! next have the front end crossmember replaced with a Vb-VL V8 item. Also i suggest u remove the power steering as its much more fun with out it!!! so get urself a VB- VL V8 non pwersteering rack, and V8 Steering Knuckle. once all this is in u now have ur front end converted to v8. u need v8 engine mounts from any of those models aswell. ok once thats done insert ur selected engine as a dummy fit to see how its gna sit. rip the whore back out again. now all depending on wat box u use ur gna have to modify the tunnel. I used a T700 therefore i had to employ MR SLEDGE! Make ur own custom turtle kneck on the tunnel, usually were the tunnel meets the firewall u have to bash that in so, were u rest ur foot on the drivers side there will be a nice sized bulge in there!!
Drop everything in now as in engine and box wire everything up and get the car towed to a exhaust joint to get ur exhaust done!!! word of advise extracters for a injected motor in a VL are a NIGHTMARE but all can be done! have fun!!!
I have done this conversion about 4 times the first time was a nightmare and then got easier as u practise. i can convert a whole front end within about 2hrs now but i swear i do not recomend it and nor to i want to participate in doing another!!!!
