shame u don't live down in Wollongong i could show u a few spots. But as mentioned above the way i mainly learnt was from GO-carts when i raced a fair bit before i got my liscense. Computer games helped me heaps. Gran turrismo i good, but the ultimate in learning how to control a car is Grand PRix Legends. When i was really into it i had a full setup with steering wheel and pedals and used to race on the internet with a heap of other people in 2 hour races and ****. Good fun and as soon as i got my L's had no trouble whats so ever driving a car. Once on my P's i did a heap of grass driving. Around this area we have a number of spots that noone is around. But i don't reconmend u try driving on the grass as u would on the road. Also grass is quite a bit different to a wet road to answer ur question. Grass the car bogs down a fair bit and is quite controllable when u start getting used to it. Couple of months ago i did a defensive driving course at eastern creek and learnt a fair bit. Mainly about driving awarness but also on the limits of the car. Their good fun and teach u a lot if u don't know much. I'm also wanting to do a stage 2 course where they teach you how to control a slide, etc. Now with only 1 point left on my liscense i can't grass drive anymore, but yeh if u find a desolate spot without kids on it,etc then go for it. But please don't be a slack **** and rip up a cricket pitch or something. Thats just low Wet bitchimen is the best without a doubt in my opinion. Every time it rains i still go for a drive, except now its rare due to this ****ing drought. If you going to do it in the wet do it on a wide road. I only give it some in the wet when there is noone around, its a wide road. You do start getting good and people from my school have asked how the hell i get it so sideways the other day out of the school without losing it. I say practice and laugh. lol. Doing burnouts in the dry is good as well but when u start having to pay for tyres it ain't. I have been through a set of tyres on my old 16 inch wheels, another set on my VX SS wheels, 2 chasers, and 2 14 inch wheels. I have had my P's since september last year. If your going to do it in the dry do it in an empty carpark or something. Don't do it on the street ur asking for trouble and it can get bloody dangerous if a kid or car pulls out. Keep in mind but repairs on the car. I blew my transmission up in my VL bout 3 months ago while getting hugely sidways down an empty street one night. Transmission was already on the way out but i lost second gear and had to get it rebuilt. If your car is auto like mine and your in the wet. Put it in first and boot it, keep and eye on the revs and change into second or once with a bit of practice come off and on the accelerator and u will have better control and also won't redline ur motor. Goodluck

haha yeh.. who swerves to miss a car that pulls out and puts them selves into a poll like i said dude.. there is more to 'driving' than gettin in a car pressing the pedals and turning the wheel.. swerving to miss ppl and putting urself into a poll is beyond me... who taught u how to do that ?? hahah we have conflicting views.. but im not speaking for the driving public 90% of whom cant drive for **** 'normally' as it is.. let alone react to someone pulling out on them or gettin hooked out around a few corners. dragme u sound like u've been brought up well son !! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

One of the few things i'm actually good at.lol I do agree with exchaser here. The example you set. If you do 40km and someone pulls out. Well the obvious thing here is to brake. Your not doing 100km so shedding the speed ain't hard. As we learnt in the driver course and i have used it a number of times when people have pulled out on me is to hit the brakes lockup, comeoff just enough so they ain't locking and swerve around the car if possible. This dosn't mean going into a poll. It means if there is room swerve around them, even if it means going on the otherside of the road (if noone is comming). I mean its a rather stupid example as where talking about getting sideways, etc and you bring up hitting a pole in a 40 zone. If you practice you ain't going to get into that situation to start with. I have seen a guy in my year as we were leaving school one day nearly crash. We came out of school and he drives an old MErcedes Benz that is his parents. Isn't a bad car with a bit of power. But anyway he says to me Lets get sideways around the corner down the street. I replied no, not just because we were 20m up from the school but also because of the blind corner he was planning to drift around. Anyway i leave first and i stop at the roundabout bout 50Metres up from this corner. Next thing i see him in my rear view mirror come completely sidways out of the corner, he flicks it back the other way and i would have backed off at this stage but he keeps it flat and spins 180 degrees hitting the gutter. He just missed a parked car by a metre. Anyway i get home and i get a call from my school principle accussing me of getting sideways and hitting the gutter. The school had been called after a neighbour made a complaint and accussed me cause i was driving the hotted up car. Anyway i explained to him that i would show him my rims and that they had no scratches and also i would prove to him the tread left on the road was different to my tread. Anyway he checks again and i got off. The point is but. This kid don't know the first thing about controlling a car. Sure he might be crazy and gets it sideways but people at school even mention that he can't control it proplery. This kid was proud as the next day and came up to me and said he didn't back off the whole time until he hit the gutter. I shook my head. Its **** like that. Cause i have practiced and know what the car is going to do i wouldn't even contemplate doing that. Thats the difference that is going to stop you hitting a pole. Assesing the situation and knowing what your car is going to do. Which once again comes about with practice. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
