OK you have some valid points, however the police didn't "kill" anybody. The driver of the car kills people when they decide to avade the authorities. Also if the police were involved in foul play they would have been investigated and duely charged. Did this happen??
Who cares what the reasons for stealing the car were as well. They still committed the crime. You say "The kids i spoke about earlier stole cars to get from a-b" Try buying a bus ticket maybe???
I'm sorry if they were friends of yours or whatever, and I agree that their lives are far more valuable than a car, but the driver must be ultimately blamed for his/her actions.
Personally, having two close friends killed by a speeding, drug effected driver being persued by a police vehicle I have some strong views on this topic. My friends were innocently stopped at a traffic light when their car was slammed into.
I don't blame the police, they were tagging behind with the chopper above as well.
I blame the stupid, irresponsible f*ckwit driver of the stolen car. Always will in future too.

The police didnt kill anybody? They smashed the car off the road into a tree at 160 km/h. Of course they were investigated, there was a full inquest into it but who does the inquest? The police. When the police are investigating the police what do you think happens mate? If you murdered someone and the judge goes "Ok mate i'm gonna let you investigate yourself and come to a verdict" what would you do? Protect your own skin? Of course you would. As ive said before, i hate car thiefs as much as the next man, if i caught someone stealing my car id beat the **** out of them but i wouldn't murder them. The problem is that cops are above their own law, they break the law constantly to stop 'other' people doing it which is ****in bull****. A perfect example is the whole underground killing **** at the moment - what is it? 25 deaths or something and no arrests? give me a break the police are making money off taking kickbacks while people shoot each other. Seriously the majority of the police force today, especially the victorian police, make me sick to my stomach. 3 months ago i was pissed off my head at 2am buying a souvlaki at the souvlaki bar on chapel street and suddenly i was ripped out of the shop by two cops who smashed my head into the bookshop window next door and searched me etc... claiming id been vandalising some **** i dunno i cant even remember. I'm just sick of it and i've kinda exploded on this thread here because another person has died most likely because of big-headed cops breaking the law themselves and killing a 15 year old kid and then lying about it. They expect criminals to take responsibility for their actions and pay the price, well so should police. If a cop kills a 15 year old kid by running him off the road, stolen car or not, they should suffer the consequences like everyone else.

I hope you become a active brain inside a dead body because of it. No time for anyone that steals.

24-06-04, 09:19 GMT+10#27 I see little real benefit in Police chases, too many end in prangs which can involve innocent people.
As someone said generally stolen cars are only driven at high speed when being chased so why encourage that ?
Down Stoneys way a cop is being investigated re the death of a colleague in his car during a pursuit

No, not only the ethics and standards unit investigate incidents involving deaths but the Police Ombudsman and also the State Coroner. Perhaps you should actually get the facts before you get on your high horse??

Once again good to see you know all of the facts and have researched the topic before you posted. Maybe pick up a newspaper and try reading it??
Obviousy we all have differing opinions. Fair enough. I respect your point of view. But at the end of the day police do a good job, under very difficult conditions and circumstances, and shouldn't be bad mouthed for their actions. Sure there are some bad eggs in the force, there are in any large corporation, but everyone shouldn't be painted with same brush which is exactly what you have done.
Think about it.

24-06-04, 12:42 GMT+10#29 Pick up the newspaper and read it lol You have been oblivious to everything that has gone on in this thread havent you? Like i said earlier they were run off the road by police with witnesses, and paint from the cop car on the stolen car and the news report showed nothing of this. I dont need any facts about the underground killings...do the math... 20+ deaths no arrests made. Put 2+2 together. And as for the inquest... there were two survivors mate I know what happened in that car and all the evidence the survivors presented was hardly even taken into account. It was the polices word against theirs... the word of a lying cop vs. the word of a car thief... the lying cop will always win.

24-06-04, 12:54 GMT+10#30 I think the trouble with police chases is that there's a line to be drawn between trying to see justice be done (by chasing them) and the risks involved (i.e. what they might crash into).
Police chases always will carry a risk, but I know for a fact if someone stole my car I'd be pissed if cops 'caught' them and they weren't chased. The risk of damage to further public property and people themselves is a big one, but as for the criminal himself, once they decide he/she doesn't care two sh.its for me, they forfeit any right to have me care about what tree their stupid arse gets wrapped around.
