sik calais has basically covered it all...howeva..its one thing being told how to paint...its another to actually do it ... i suggest finding sum1 with experience at sprayin cars...good luck anyway...
by the way....phun....good luck on sprayin silver metallic lol... good chance u will get motelling (spelling??)...
why don't you do the plastic yourself?
It's no different to metal surfaces except you need to walk down to super cheap or some place and purchase plastic primer.
The smoother you finish your sanding, the better the paint will look when you're finished. Try to sand it out to about 800.
1500? whats wrong with ya dude, are you a painter, you bloke the dirt out with 1500 and cut n polish the psot and there is no scratches what so ever, and as for priming over 1500, thats f**kin dodge as, you do relize how fine 1500 is dont ya, read all the preperation data books made by paint companies and car prep tools dealerships and they will say the excact same thing so stop arguing and listen to someone who actually knows what there talking about, it ****s me up the wall people who think they know but really wouldnt have a clue, if this dude was to listen to you his paint would simply fall off after a couple of months or so
P.S ive painted 1000's of cars and plenty of show cars, fixed plenty of other peoples think they can do it but cant work, work in a preatige panel shop and have heaps of people who want a nice job on there car come to me, so start listening, thanks steve

just a quick question... to sikcalais if possible...
ive just resprayed my car and im at the stage just before the clearcoat however, when i rolled it out into the sun, the paint pattern wasnt the best, you could sort of see the paint stroke and the paint isnt overlapping well (or me). im tyring to do 50% overlap but you can sort of see wetter and drying patches in a pattern....
how do i fix this? i just tried to regulate the flow and the sray pattern was quite small, now ive adjusted it to be wider but its stell sort of having the effect...
any pointers or have i left it too late before the clear coat?
will the clear coat help it to look less patterny in the sun?
thanx
what colour is it? what paint system, where are you painting it ie, in booth or outside? what gun are you using, your gun may not be spraying properly as in top heavy or bottom heavy, make sure you fluid tip is PERECTLY clean and your air cap too, the aircap has the big hole in the centre, 2 small pins holes either side of the centre, and 2 medium holes on the very side which have to be perfectly clean, make sure the needle is clean. if all is good paint 1 spot of the masking paper or plastic about the same distance as you are painting the panel, it should have a nice vertical line, the line will tell you if the gun is clean or not, other than that learn how to paint, lol
thanx sikcalais...
basicaly, ive decked out my parents gareage into a booth with plastic protecting it
i regularly lightly spray the floor with water and walls to hold down any dust
the colour is casino blue
the gun is pretty gay and i think its the problem, its suction fed and sometimes drips out of the screw in canister while holds the paint so i have to wrap the canister to hold the few drips.
i have down the vertical line and it looks a little faint in the centre....
i think i might have to enusure the nozzle is clean very regularly
thanx for your help
