14-06-04, 20:17 GMT+10#22 The R32 DE had top feed, and i dont think there was an R32 DET. So if they're top feed they're 270cc. R33 used side feed, DE injectors are red (270cc), DET are 370cc, dunno 'bout the colour.
Hope that helps.

15-06-04, 13:07 GMT+10#23 Sounds interesting, It seems like a very simple version of VCT compared to the BMW engines and even the 2jz engines.

15-06-04, 22:36 GMT+10#26 No probs guys! Just another little mod i didn't mention....The RB25 block has a restrictor about 1.4mm in diameter in the VCT oil gallery going to the head. So to achieve the same result with the external feed, the brass fitting which screws into the head was soldered up then re-drilled to 1.4mm.

17-06-04, 14:17 GMT+10#28 MonstaS4: So does this solinoid act as an ON / OFF switch, with realistically 2 variations, and none in between? Also, you mention using two tensioners, I notice the bottem has variable tensioner instead of a normal one. You just have to add a tensioner to top - in between the cover and the pump.

Yep, on/off - no in between.

Not 100% on this, but i'm tippin' the VCT would not directly change fueling, but the factory ECU would be tuned to whatever revs the VCT cuts in/out. I'll be using an aftermarket ECU so won't be a problem.

17-06-04, 17:47 GMT+10#31 Damn, I was hoping it would be more advanced like the system on the BMW, an electronic phase motor that has true varations to the cam timing.

21-06-04, 02:25 GMT+10#32 Nice work MonstaS4!
The belt u want is a Gates powergrip GT2 1200 8MGT 30, but specifiy 25mm wide.
Here's mine, sightly different.

21-06-04, 14:54 GMT+10#34 Twinvl, thanks! Yours was one of few sites which had excellent info on the head VCT conversion, so thank YOU!
I spoke to Gates Australia about this belt but they say the temperature rating of this belt is lower than a standard timing belt. I have found a Dayco belt which is 150 teeth, 1200mm long, 8mm pitch but only 23mm wide. I will probably go with this, as i can't see 2mm making much difference in strength. Waddaya think?
Hybrid vl, don't think it's worth changing unless yours is ****ed. There's plenty of cams around to trick up the non vct head. You may lose some fuel economy when cruising though.

21-06-04, 20:29 GMT+10#37 My gates belt was $37.
There are jap cams available that take advantage of the VCT in the R33 head.
They only go up to around a 260duration on the inlet though. Tomei does them from memory.
Search over at SAU as they have covered it to death regarding aftermarket cams and VCT.
On a DD Dyno the VCT generally offers an extra 10rwkw across the mid range.
Could any 1 measure the R33 RB25 ports for me!?

22-06-04, 12:34 GMT+10#38 can some1 tell me is it really bad to run the VLTurbo pistons with the RB25DET head conversion on the RB30ET???

22-06-04, 13:19 GMT+10#39 Because it gives you a super low static compression ratio.

22-06-04, 15:11 GMT+10#40 Hybrid vl, i think we've covered this before. If you want an all out drag machine it may be okay cos you could use more boost, if it's for a street car, it will be a ****en pig to drive. No response then when it comes on boost the rear will snap sideways somethin' fierce......nothin' wrong with that though
